yesterday I stumbled over Swedish Hasbeens and you know what? I found out that´s not a phrase to refer to in regard of my exes, it is a actual shoe brand :-D And a cute one. Hello everyone,

tomorrow will be my birthday and I already got my gifts from my Mom and my Aunt. I was asked to unpack it cause they also put food into the parcel, so I know what Iam getting....

One of this things is this lovely repro phone that looks even lovelier in person!!!! The ring doesn´t sound very authentic but Iam happy anyway!!!!!!

On the not so happy side my birthday has the best outlook to turn out horrible.... It´s appointment scheduling time. And this means that I will be tied to the phone all day. In addition our nurse is sick so guess who will have to take care of dozens of sick children at the same time, plus still have my every day receptionist duties? All of this would be stressfull, yet I could survive the day... but on top of it I will be home alone all evening because John has his late shift :-(

So everyone: Think hard of me tomorrow so I will make it through this day of doom somehow. Getting older is not the problem. The problem is that my stress level will be horrendous :-(

oh my god! I haven´t bought anything of their last new line yet (the Fonda!!! wowza!) and again there are beautifull new WKD things! Sheer yet modest about every piece has my name tag on it. Yes, I´ll happily take it all in every variation!!!! (well, given that I could afford that... buhuuuu :-( )

I love how it is sheer, but sort of modest, how it is sexy, but not cheap! In other words.... It´ll take forever but I hope to save up for it (some day!!!)

Essence Legends of the sky Trend Edition review & I getto wear my new hat!

Hello everyone,

Essence released a new Limited edition that is supossed to emulate the style of the 40s. So I couldn´t resist taking a look, however only the palette appealed to me (A 40s inspired edition without 40s inspired packaging and NO red lipstick???? Come on!) Off course this was also a welcome occassion to put on my new hat...

That´s the promo for the trend editions. No cute retro packing, no red liptick, so I went for the palette...

I chose to use the khaki-greenish and the brown one for a 40s inspired make up... As you can see the colour is suitable for day wear but not necessarily for photoshootings because there is not that much pigmentation going on there and I hate my hair. (I curled the damn hair for over an hour and it didn´t turn out the way I wanted it. The darn curls fell out straight away :-( I must get myself a perm again!) The metal box, the palette comes in, is ideal for travelling, but does not look very retro. So I say - buy it for day-wear, but don´t expect to do much pin upping with it. It is not really a must-have for the retro gal! It´s ok, but advertising it as a 40s inspired edition is a fail in my oppinion. Don´t see anything SCREAMING 40s to me?!

Hello everyone,

the new year started and I haven´t blogged for 10 days. Why? Sick and busy. It only took over two weeks to overcome the horrible cold I was having. And busy, busy work days in addition to that!

Well, but I won´t bore you with how busy and sick I was... I rather show you.... Some things of beauty!

I went to Stuttgart last weekend for a lovely Dirndl Shooting and I spent the night with the lovely and beautiful Ms. Lili Marleen! Technically we´ve known for 6 years or so - but only over the Internet. Considering how long we´re pin uping (and she: burlesque-ing) around we are Germanies Pin up Grandmas. It really was a great stay! And I hope to see her again soon!

Enjoying a huuuuuuuuge and yummy breakfast in the Grand Cafe Planie, a verrrrry beautiful place!!!!!

I attended my first fleamarket this year. I went over it once - found nothing. When I left I spotted this freaky green hat. I guessed it would be darn expensive, but asked for the price anyway. Only 10 €!!! Iam not sure it will actually suit me and I have nothing to go with it, but that was a bargain too good to resist!!! The sales lady said someone remarked to her he/she has seen Marlene Dietrich wearing a similar hat in a movie! If anyone knows the movie, please point me into the right direction! Would love to see.

You just spotted something yellow? Those are ear rings one of my fantastic work mates gave to me. Have I lately mentioned that I have the worlds greatest work mates in my day job?????

Minus having been sick a great start for the year!!! :-)

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a good start to 2012! Me and John drank some champagne mixtures, ate a traditional Hessian New Years Dish (ribs with Sauerkraut) and watched the new season of “Futurama”. We weren’t aware it is out already so we had to catch up a little ;-) Isn’t “Futurama” the perfect New Years Eve program. We are in 2012 now! Who would have thought?!

Anyway, I’m kicking the year off shooting! And I don’t mean only one! This Thursday I will shoot with Werner and Miss Tetrodotoxin in…. drumroll…. My own apartment. :-D So I am busy making it nice and absolutely enjoy that I don’t have to travel somewhere for it. You have to admit that’s a mayor YAY.

Therefore I gonna travel far on Saturday. To Stuttgart to be exact where I gonna shoot the Spring Campaign for www.schmittundschaefer.de and stop by for a Pyjama Party with Miss Lili Marleen. Well, ok, I don’t know whether we will do an actual Pyjama Party, but Girls just wanna have fun!

And this is only week one of 2012.

I am not sure which goals to set myself right now. Ever since I was born I had goals that were not very realistic. Somehow I made it happen anyways. I hope that someday I´ll do a own fashion line or get my own tv show. Unrealistic, but everything I achieved in the past 8 years was unrealistic to start with considering Iam no standard model material.

Why I won´t have a New Year resolution this year!

Hello everyone,

it seems that everybody is doing a loooong list of New Year resolutions once more. Not me! Why?

1. All the things people decide to do are done already. I rarely drink anyway. I do not smoke. I eat a salad for lunch more often than I don´t. And most of the time I do my little fitness routine. No need to change anything. It will evolve. No need to put pressure on myself. My lifestyle is healthier than most peoples anyway.

2. Iam satisfied. I have a nice job, the greatest boyfriend in the world and occassionally a shooting. So no need to change anything of it.

That said I hope 2012 will be as nice as 2011 was for me :-)

on the 23rd of December I headed home to celebrate Xmas with my family, acompanied by the leftovers of a cold. By the 26th it seemed to be gone, but now it is back in full power and all the things I planned to do (tidying up, shopping, getting all the stuff off the storage room etc) have to wait! Because I start to shoot again next week and heve to be back on my feet by than. HOWEVER! One thing cheered me up and it is a photo of my last shooting in 2011!

I will be filming again in January and I need a nice dress! It´s a bit hard this time!

1. It has to be from Europe or Iam afraid it won´t reach me on time!
2. Must be a day dress. Nobody will believe that I walk around all day in a sparkly little silk number.
3. No summer dress as I could possibly freeze :-D It will be goddamn January after all!!!
4. It has to look damn good on me. It will be a one week long mini-series in a news magazine so there will be constant flashbacks of me wearing the dress. Like 4 times a week. And possible sell like sliced bread.

Ich filme im Januar wieder und brauche ein schönes Kleidchen! Diesmal ist das nicht so einfach!

1. Es sollte aus Europa kommen, damit ich es auch noch pünktlich zum drehen da habe!
2. Ich brauche ein Tageskleid. Keiner nimmt mir ab das ich den ganzen Tag in einem glitzernden Seidenkleid rummlaufe.
3. Kein Sommerkleid, sonst erfriere ich womöglich :-D Es ist ja im Januar!!!
4. Es muss an mir verdammt gut aussehen, da es sich um eine 1 wöchige Miniserie handelt, also gibt es dann ständig Flashbacks von mir in diesem Kleid. So etwa 4 Mal die Woche. Und sich möglicherweise wie geschnitten Brot verkaufen.

Ihr seid ein Designer oder ein Shop der das perfekte Kleid dafür habt? Oder ihr habt ne Idee wo ich schauen könnte? Meldet euch für eine extrem-Promo Aktion :-)

this weekend I was packing things for my shooting next week and went to the X-Mas market with John to eat grilled sausages and drink hot Honey Wine. Yummy! And because it is the third advent and we baked a second load of butter cookies yesterday we had a nice desert waiting for us at home...

Buttercookies topped with nuuuuuuuuts!!!!! (I am nuts for nuts) Cinemon Stars and some pumpkin pie that I still had in my freezer. All made from scratch by yours truely :-) I love Xmas time!

during fall break I managed to get my hair cut and last Saturday I started a new attempt to bleach a streak into my hair. It worked wayyyyyy better than last time! Today beeing a day off I got to play with it....

And here are the results...

No. 1: Front rolls with open hair in the back...

No. 2: This is not sooooo much different from look 1. In this version I curled the hair in the back a bit under and pinned them together

No.3: When Iam lazy I like to go with 60s look. Some teasing of the crown and Ian ready to go!

No.4: And often I´ll just make a 60s updo when the hair is loosing curl and I just wanna opt for something easy :-)

Everyone does "Day of the Dead" for Halloween

Hello everyone,

looking around I feel that Mexican Day of the Dead themes are the new Polka Dots in the Retro Community, however... For our Halloween Party at work I had to stick to it myself cause my original Halloween costume did not turn up in time and I needed a cheap replacement so I bought water colours for a few Euros, checked out some pictures and I was ready to go. Exept for one person nobody did get what I was anyway :-D But everyone liked it and thought it looked scary and that I did a nice make up job. I totally creeped out the bus driver and everyone in the bus so I´d say: "Mission fullfilled"! I won´t have a Halloween on Halloween, cause John has to work the day after so I wish you a nice one :-)

Shapewear on a budget

Hello everyone,

I need to add more cardis to my wardrobe with winter sneaking around the corner so I went to H&M today. No sucess, but on my way out I figured I should visit their lingerie section for new panties and they now have sort of a mini shapewear section. I tried their shaping slip before and hated it, but today I tried their shaping panties not expecting much Aaaaaaand..... love them! Let´s take a look, shall we?

They are comfy and really smoothen out my lower belly (Iam fine with my waist, hips, etc but at war with my lower belly and no matter how much salad I eat and how many sit ups I do every evening I just can´t get rid of it!). As they were just 12,95 Euro a piece I took along two. While they won´t replace my fave brands and are not very seductive they will be great for day-wear!!! For unknown reasons I did not find them on the H&M website, but I hope for more shapewear in more colour ranges!

I tried one more shapewear at Kaufhof later on with no sucess, but I saw those from Triumph in the sale. I already have them, but you may want to take a look if you don´t....

A day in my model life

Hello everyone

I have a week vaction in my day job, but this doesn´t mean Iam not doing anything...

Having a week off meant that I had time to get my hair cut at "Cut Corner" in Düsseldorf ("home" of Mo Rouge, hairstylist of the book Rock n Hair). I convinced Mo to cut off my long tresses cause I just can´t set them anymore...

Bye bye hair.....
And I got them styled as well and managed to sneak in some promo ;-)
Dooooone! They are still a bit over shoulder lenght when unstyled, but I can manage them again! Yay!!!! Afterwards I took and exhausting 5 minute walk down the street for a quick fitting at DSigns and went to my fav Second Hand Shop afterwards. I badly wanted to get a red or navy blue bag, but than I found a small red suitcase from th 60s and decided to go for this one as it is more interesting than a bag (everyone will asume I go to exotic travels all over the world....)

And here is me passing the Neuss City Gate on my way back home.... Me and John allways pass it instead of taking the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street - just because it is way cooler than to go the "ordinary way".

Pyjama Day at work.... I stole John pyjamas as satin negliges are not really work appropriate... Here I show of the pompoms of his house shoes.... And no... I don´t wear oversized things in my daily life. Actually I exchanged it for a dress before it even was lunchtime.

Pyjama Tag auf der Arbeit.... Ich hatte mir einen Pyjama von John geklaut, da meine Satin Negliges irgendwie nicht für die Arbeit angebracht gewesen wären.... Hier präsentiere ich die Bommeln von Johns Hausschuhen.... Und nein.... im täglichen Leben würde ich nie so schlabberige Klamotten tragen. Eigentlich habe ich mich schon vor dem Mittagessen wieder umgezogen und bin in ein Kleidchen geschlüpft.

In daily life I just bought this on ebay. Will need a slip for underneath.

In meinem normalen Leben habe ich gerade das hier auf ebay gekauft. Jetzt brauch ich nurnoch ein Unterkleidchen.

The white one doesn´t thrill me, but maybe it will look more visible with an eye base, the other colours look fantastic. The matte turqouise really pops, the dark blue is a little greyish with a little shine and the grey... well, is a shiny grey :-) Can´t wait to try!

Der weisse haut mich nicht vom Hocker, aber vielleicht sieht er mit einer Eye Base nach mehr aus, das matte Türkis knallt richtig rein, das Blau geht ein bisschen ins graue und schimmert ein wenig und das Grau ist... Grau und schimmert schön :-) Kann es kaum erwarten die Farben zu testen!

today we had Hansefest in Neuss so for a change the stores were open on a Sunday. And so was DM, I went in and found.... the new alverde products. (YAYAYAY). I´m too sick to do an make up with them, or let´s say I look horribly sick, so an actual make up will follow in the coming days...

heute war Hansefest in Neuss und Verkaufsoffener Sonntag. Der DM war auch offen und was erblicken meine Äuglein? die neuen Alverde Produkte (JUHU!). Ich bin aktuell zu krank um mich zu schminken, oder sagen wir lieber ich sehe zu entsetzlich aus um davon ein Foto zu machen, also werde ich erst in den kommenden Tagen ein Probemake up posten...

Golden Turqouis Quattro, Magic Blue, Dark Aubergine

Looks pretty good! Aubergine is matte, Blue is a little shiny, though not as much as I thought it would be, light cream colour will be a good alrounder, turqouise has indeed a golden shimmer and will be great with 50s/60s inspired make up, brown is beautiful and bronze-y so good for every day and black is rather matte and will go well with the blue.

Sieht ziemlich gut aus. Aubergine ist matt, Blue shimmert ein bisschen aber nicht so sehr wie ich dachte, die helle Creme Farbe ist gut für so ziemlich alles, das türkis hat einen goldenen Schimmer und wird toll für ein 50er/60er inspiriertes Make up sein, das braun ist ein toller Bronzeton für jeden Tag und das Schwarz ist ziemlich matt und sollte super mit dem blauen funktionieren.

Hello all,

as Mad Men won´t return before 2012 Iam searching for a substitute series to kill time. A few days ago new 60s series "The Playboy Club" started. I checked it out. Iam not sure it can grab me though. It is a tad too predictable and cliche for me, but the hair and the clothes are great.

I wonder how you can kill a mobster and your hair is a mess, than 5 minutes later it is perfect again, than you shower and ruin your whole setting and approximately an hour after you had the shower it is perfect again. Dear make up deartment... Make up your mind. Either it stays perfect all the time or it doesn´t!!! Boy did this BOTHER ME!!! (If you know how to manage to instant repair your retro hair I hope you let me know...) I think I will give it a few more episodes to make up my mind about it... Until than.... Eye-candy!

Baby Powder vs E.L.F. High Definition Powder

somewhere in the internet I read about High Definition Powders and how grrrrreat they look in photographs compared to ordinary powder... In 99,99 cases of my shootings I have to take care of my own make up anyway so I figured I give it a try... On the following pictured the face half with the beauty mark is powdered with E.L.F. High definition powder, the other half with ordinary baby powder. I treated both the same way. Same cream, same foundation, just different powders. Than I snapped pictures.

Irgendwo im Internet habe ich gelesen wieviel toller High Definition Puder sein soll. Da ich mich bei 99,99% meiner Shootings selber schminke habe ich mir gedacht ich teste das mal. Auf den folgenden Bildern wurde die Gesichtshälfte mit dem Schönheitsfleck mit E.L.F. High Definition Puder und die andere mit Babypuder eingepudert. Sonst ist alles gleich. Creme, Foundation, nur anderes Puder. Dann habe ich Fotos gemacht.

I don´t see ANY difference! I don´t know if it is different with more expensive High Definition Powders, but until I hear/see differently I suspect it is just a fad. I will stick with my babypowder that does not even cost 1 €.

Ehrlich gesagt sehe ich NULL Unterschied. Ich weiss nicht ob das bei teureren High Definition Pudern anders ist, aber bis ich was anderes sehe oder höre halte ich es für ein Gerücht. Ich bleibe bei meinem Babypuder das nicht mal 1 € kostet.

"Style me Vintage Make up" Book Review

as I was unable to find a book review of "Style me Vintage Make-up - Easy step-by-step techniques for creating classic looks" I figured I take the chance, order it and write my own :-)

As you might remember the hair edition was just so-so for me cause I felt that a lot of it was pure guess work for the onetryingto achieve a styling. The make up book turned out way better in this regard!!! The only make up were I feel a bit left alone was the Clara Bow look because you never see the eyes shut so it is guess work. Everything else is very very well-explained this time!!!!

Here a few pictures of the book to give you an idea....

Pretty pictures and layout... I chose to try the Twiggy style (it is the one on the cover picture)... and make it Tiki. It was a verrrrrry good excuse to use my suer cute Sophisticated Lady bracelet with loooots of fruits... You can decorate Tiki Mugs with it, too. no fancy pictures today.... I was having a bad day: Woke up to the news that something is stuck in our kittchen sink. Didn´t get better when I found out fixing it professional will cost 280 € - I try with chemicals now.

And I was at a fleamarket and while I did not get what I planned I made 3 bargains, however while I was waiting for the bus on a sidewalk I got hit by a bicycle driver as he was driving by. Now there is no need to bicycle on a sidewalk FULL OF PEOPLE that either wait for the bus or are just about to leave the fleamarket by foot, especially when the street is entirely free. What made me extra-mad though was that eventhough I was obviously hit by it bicycle guy did not turn around to at least make sure Iam fine or stopped the bike or at least mumbled a "sorry" before driving on. Seriously, he hit my back in a way I could have broken a rib or something. I was standing there in shock, starring and thinking "This didn´t happen, did it?" too shocked to run after him and pull him off his bike. Cause he wasn´t that fast (after all the sidewalk was full of people). If I was better in throwing I should have thrown my milkshake after him.

Since when is it ok to hit little women with your bike? What if he had hit someone else? A grandma, a child or someone really tiny that has no protection around the ribs and there would have been serious injury? Obviously this is his song.

I´ll try to calm down now. But my day is ruined. Iam confident tomorrow will be better cause it is my 6th anniversary with John <3

My World famous pasta sauce....

Hello everyone,

today I post something different... a recepy for my easy but world famous pasta sauce.

You need:

400 Gramm minced meat (any sort will do... All proofed and tested. Possibly even tofu works if there are vegetarians among you. If you try let me know whether it works :-)

2 Peppers

1 Liter pureed tomatoes

2 spoons Instant soup powder

Step one: Cut the peppers into small cubes

Step two: Fry them in some plant cream (I use that as butter substitute, but if you prefer butter or something else... right on!) for about 5-10 minutes.

Step three: Throw in the minced meat and fry it for 5-10 minutes, too!

Step 4: pour in the tomatoes. You can vary how liquid you want it to be. Personally I allways put in around 1000 ml.

Step 5: add the instant soup powder! I don´t use salt or pepper, only this and it makes it perfect. I add 1-2 big spoons full of it, but off course it is up to you how much you want!

Step 6: Cook it on a low to medium heat for 45-60 minutes.

Step 7: Pour it over your pasta or rice. Yummy!

In case you don´t finish it all let me tell you... One day later it tastes even better!!! :-)

for now the inofficial tour is over... Yesterday I was at the Tattoo River Expo for my second ever fashion show... Like my last one (Streetfashionshow last year for Bittersüss) it turned out quiet different from your regular fashion show... It was more of a little improvised pin up meets sailor revue :-) It is a shame the quality is not that great - but maybe someone else filmed it in a better quality so I can cross-post that, too :-)

We all agreed that we absolutely LOVE our sailor boy David :-)

50er bis 70er Jahre Markt Cologne + WDR

Hello everyone,

Part 1 of the "Inofficial Sari Tour" is over! I was at the 50s market in Cologne. Yay! The prices of the different stalls were somewhere in between sky rocketing high (120 € for a simple headvase I can order for waaaaay less on ebay USA- come one!!!!) to reasonable. We went for the reasonable things ;-)

Off course I also visited "Rock ´n Hair" while I was there.....

Sari flyers, Sari book covers and Sari taking a photo of a table full of Saris.... Later on a workmate joined us and he was like "What the heck is going on here????" I don´t really tend to tell a lot about my modelling at work. :-)

I just arrived and drank a tin of prosecco with Viola (we are classy ladies after all ;-) when suddenly a gentleman from WDR television came by and started filming the stall.... So we gave him something to film.... First Viola fixed my make up - it was so hot we technically melted!

than Paula took a photo of me with a 1950s polaroid camera. You can see it at WDR Lokalzeit at 19:30 tonight. If you miss it - no worries it´ll be online later (plus I try to record it, too!!!)

Hello everyone!

Our space for coats and shoes was nothing but a huuuuuge mess so I ordered a shoe rack and today I got it and even managed to set it up ALONE! Those that know me personally know Iam rather clumsy and totally unable to build anything. Iam an ok seamststress, but give me some furniture parts and a manual and Iam LOST.

Well, right when I wrote this blog post I heard a loud BANG! And it was..... my shoe rack crushing down. I suspect it is not so easy to handle after all.... :-(

last week one of my agencioes requested natural photos with little or no make up and natural hair. Usually the only one seeing me like that is John and

he allways says "You look like you´re 12 year old. So cuuuuute." The cuuuuuute-part with a high pitched voice like a parody on a little girl :-D

Figure out yourself whether I look like 12 years old without my make up. Oh well, if so the agency should be happy. They can market me as a teenager foreveeeeeeeer .... Ocassional pimples included :-D

Personally I rather go for painted and sophisticated :-D

I made a super-duper ebay bargain! String shelves!!!!!!! Altogether 12,78 € including shipping!!!!!! Those usually go for waaaaaay more. Like.... hundred

The string shelf was invented in 1949 by Swedishman Nisse Strinning. He won a designer competition with it and it went into mass production in the 50s and is still sold TODAY! The design remained the same, however they expanded the colour range. There are LOADS of different ones on ebay because it was a system that you could expand with more shelves, tables, cupboards.... Endless possibilities.

My wall next to my dinner table was empty and I figured it would be great to have some shelves where I can store some of my knicknacks and stuff that I ocassionally need at the diner table such as...

...those babies!!!!

Anyway... I intend to do a homeshooting soon and than you´ll see.... :-)

Hello everyone,

yours truely just won this fabulous head on ebay! It´ll make a beautifull wall decoration! I love them, but usually they go for wayyyyyy more than the 6 Euros I´m paying for that one, so little me = happy!

As I want to strut my stuff on the catwalk at my best shape Iam eating salads for lunch at work right now. The fact that the cafeteria is closed makes it easy to stick to AND I try to avoid it beeing boring....

PLUS: They have to be huge to keep up with my Hunger ;-) Tomorrow I will put steak, strawberries and aspargus on it! :-)

Hello everyone,

yes, Iam posting A LOT today :-D We skipped painting the walls and will do it tomorrow so I have time and energy for other things!!!

Yesterday I went to a photoshooting at a great!!!!!! location. It is named Viller Mühle and it is sort of an open air museum close to the Dutch border. It is cool, at times spooky and AMAZING! The weather was horrible, but thank god it didn´t rain as we had most of the on location shootings planned for outside! I even got to film a little so there will be a little Making off soon! :-) Yay!

You can´t tell, but it was verrrrrry cold!!!!!

This is at a 50s cafe and luckily indoors. We started here. The cute little hat I wear is by http://www.now-voyager.co.uk Luckily it arrived on time. I got many compliments for it. I think I´ll order more there soon!

Outdoors! I was happy I got to wear my cape. I bought it ages ago in a second hand store!

And you know what? I managed to do photos of the setting pattern for my hair that morning. See here exclusively how I look tired, grumpy and without my lipstick ;-)

I didn´t bother with the bottom hair as I just put it up anyway. I just needed some volume at the crown so I wouldn´t have to tease it.

There is however a lazy methode to getting more volume into your hair minus curlers... Volume powder! Iused it today and BLIMEY! I took photos, too (is it easy to tell that Iam on vacation???) Even though I look a bit stoned in the beginning the only drug involved was caramel crunch cappuchino.

This is how I started out. Looking very stoned, the hair not exactly a wonder of volume. I used this powder...

Put a little bit of it into your hand. It feels a little cold and moist, than rub it into the hairsecetion you need volume in...

Iam still high on caramel crunch cappuchino, but my hair has a bit more volume. Rub, rub, rub your hair. Put the back up in a chignon, knot or whatever your prefer, arrange the hair on the crown as you please and put ina little hair-spray. Really only a little, because you will feel that it stands up on it´s own anyway!

I put a little haircomb into my back cause it just holds it better than pins :-) Cover any imperfections with a pretty flower = done. It is really a hairdo that you can do in 5-10 minutes.

And yes: I wear a lot of different green clothes at the moment. For at least some variation I took my bed-posts as background today ;-) I tinted my streak into a lighter red because I want to grow it out some more before making it entirely blonde. The darker part just didn´t match :-)

And others where wondering me why I never was in it, too, as I was Germanys first pin up girl and have been pin upping around for more than 7 years and not once they wrote something about me or had the tiniest picture of me in it. Well, they didn´t write about me this time either, but at least my picture is in it now ;-) They wrote a review about the "Rock ´n Hair" Book and as Iam the books covergirl I ended up beeing there, too ;-) Yay! Maybe the spell is broken now?

Tutorial: Time saving and curl protecting dry Pin Curl set

Hello everyone,

last time I showed you an tutorial with a hot roller set. Now you have spent all the time to make a pretty hot roller set and once you slept on it it is all destroyed? For that cases I use a dry pin curl set.

First off all: I don´t like the wet ones cause they take DAYS to dry. This is just not practicall for me. So I do a dry set - mostly after the hair has already been curled before to make it last for more days.

At the end of the day when you have enjoyed a pretty curly hair do it it quiet easy to do. Take yourself some pins like the ones I use in the picture - Bobby pins are just too slippery for me. I just use them to secure a slippery curl even more. As the hair is already curly or at least has some left over curl they technically fall into place. You take them. Roll them together to form a pincurl. Than pin.

If you are someone that likes to take showers in the evening do it just before you step into the shower. The steam with set the curls perfectly. If you don´t just moist your hands a LITTLE (!!!) and pat them on the pin curls. If you want you can also use a bit of setting lotion just in case. By the time you get up the next morning the curls are dry and you just need to take out the pins and brush through it.

Some explainations for the little set I did her the evening after the hot roller set. Click the pictures to enlarge cause the arrows turned out a little thin ;-)

I rolled them all flat towards my face (clock wise) exept for my bang which I made a standing pin curl.

Flat pin curls = curls

standing pin curls= volume

The direction you curl it is the direction it´ll fall to when you brush it out. Let´s say you want something that goes away from your face like a chignon you would want it to fall away from your face so you would curl it counter-clockwise.

Looks messy, but it works ;-)

The curls fall towards the face and I look dreadfully pale in those photos ;-)

After brushing it out the bang that was in a standing pin curl developed volume. All I did was to twist it a little and pin it into place. This is sort of an lazy day hair do. Off course I could have put it in a nice roll of put a flower in it, but we´re talking time saving and easy ;-)

Hello everyone,

this is Day4 of my vacation and as I was bored today and coloured my hair yesterday I thought "Hey, let´s make a hot roller set and snap some photos!!!". So here is a little tutorial :-)

So... For the total noobs:

Big hair rollers=volume, so I mostly use the on top of my head.

Medium rollers: wave, so most of the time I use them at the sides.

Small rollers: curl. I mostly use them at the bottom as this is also the section where my hair starts hanging out the soonest.
For protecting your hair you spray on a setting spray designed to protect your hair from heat. Before rolling it. I took a rather light one today, but there are hardcore ones around ;-) If you have naturally poker straight hair it also doesnt hurt to give your hair some overall hairspraying once everything is rolled up.

Once you unroll, it all looks rather eeeeeeek! No worries. some good brushing does the trick.

Height and Volume on top, Wavy sides, curly ends and please ignore the left over colour on my skin ;-)I put in a light streak yesterday, but Iam not sure whether I like it. Possibly I will colour over it once I have made up my mind....

Hello everyone,

I have 3 weeks of vacation ahead of me! Yay! However for 2,5 weeks I won´t go anywere but the magic country of balconya. In case you don´t know that place of the world, it is situated right infront of my sleeping room! And one week of it I will be mostly by myself because John is working. So I make quick progress on home decorating right now!

I think Iam done with Chippie now.

Lavender and daisies on my window. I love the smell of lavender in the evening.

And I wait for the rest of furnitures for the living room to be delivered and set up. Today we got the dinnertable and chairs. However the table was so heavy I couldn´t carry it upstairs all by myself and the chairs came with no manual,but way too many strange things to use for setting them up. I can´t do it myself. I have to wait for John with it. However I know now that the chair-colors go with the wall-color (I chose brown, lemon yellow, turqoise and light blue for the chairs, but you will see photos soon!). I kept running up and down 3 floors the whole morning trying to get stuff upstairs. Phew. Is it ok if I skip hula hooping tonight?

Yesterday our stove was installed, too so I can pretend to be an domestic goddess right now. Phew.... I should go downstairs once more to buy vegetables to go with the dinner now.... Work never ends - even on vacation

Rockabilly Ruhrpott - The Press Round up

Little did I know when two years ago I was approached to do an interview for a documentary about Rockabilly in Ruhrpott. Ir was done by two movie students and their aim was to do this documentary and maybe show it on some movie festivals...

Two years later one of my Facebook friends wrote me "Hey, I saw you in a documentary on 3Sat yesterday!!!" It turned out that "Rockabilly Ruhrpott" made it into the program "Kulturzeit" AND is beeing shown in selected cinemas. This is more than the makers ever expected and more that I expected as well. I have yet to see the TV version as I just saw some sort of "Directors Cut" a year ago, so I have no idea what of my interview remained... I ordered the DVD from the tv station, but they told me it can take up to two months till I get it... buhu... I bet everybody but me saw it....

Me. I was bigger two years ago, but definately me :-)

And I was just as amazed to find there is a huuuuge load of movie reviews!!! A selected few of many, many ones (in German, but well, you can use the google translator if you wanna read it anyway). Congrats to Christin and Claudia who made the movie and all the interviews! Your vision took a completely different turn, but a lot of people will see your hard work!

The Tiki Room

Hello everyone,

I don´t think I showed a picture of my living room in the making yet!!! Here it is! It is red, the former tennant painted it like that and we kept it. We got the red chaiselounge whose back you are seeing for free! The little bamboo shelf aka the Tiki-Shrine was a fleamarket find for 5 Euros. The seat on the ground was by IKEA and I found the pillow in some cheapo-store where I got it for 8 Euros. I promise better pics with better light and maybe even close ups once the tiger seats and the dinner essemble arrived.

My flea-market findthis Saturday. I got those 5 books for 4 Euro and I LOVE the covers so so much!!! I should display them somehow but I don´t know where/how yet!

When I saw this little kitten-vase I immediately knew it should be the keeper of my make up brushes. I was thinking "Please be 3 Euro, please be 3 Euro" while the stall holder took out his price list and checked forever. It was..... 3 Euro. Maybe I have special mind powers (or maybe not....)

And yay!!!! The mirror of my vanity table is finally hanging!!!! Now I can set my mind on how to decorate it!!!! I got the mirror for free from my grandpa, the vanity table off ebay and the chair for free from a neighbor that wanted to get rid of it. Sometimes Iam a fortune cookie. Here counts "More and better photos when Iam finished", too!

Hello everyone,

Iam back online! REALLY online I mean! I had the internet phone, however typing on it takes forever, I couldn´t read blogs and not really respond to messages either. So if you wrote, messaged, whatever - don´t take it personal that I did not reply. I just couldn´t!!! :-)

Slowly things are starting to look up. Every evening after work there is a lot of things to do. The laundry, that kept piling because we had no wasching maschine previously and either had to go to a wash salon or handwash, is fainally getting less, I sorted my private library by genre and I hope John will get out his driller to make the picture frames and the mirrow hang where they ought to... As the progress goes on here is a picture of my boudoirs current state...

The mirror is still laying on my kidney formed vanity, there are still boxes standing around, stuff on the wondow board that shouldn´t be there, but it starts to get fewer and fewer and the little shelf is still standing around (I consider putting it above my chippendale and store my lipsticks and perfumes in it. any thoughts bout that? More photos will follow when things are getting done! Still work in progress!

While I was gone I received this beautifull pictures from my shooting with Steffi and I hope you like them as much as I do.

Hello everyone,

our moving is in full preparation mood right now!

Last week I went to IKEA with a workmate and we bought a bed and a bureau (hope this is the right word, I had to bablefish it. In German it is kommode) and he was kind enough to give me two wardrobes he didn´t need, so me and John spend two afternoons setting things up! And I finally got around snapping some photos of what we have now... In the progress of moving in I will take some more photos and I hope to find a photographer that will do a shooting with me once it is completed...

The wardrobe I was gifted! I might put tapestry on it or white paint or I leave it as it is, as it´s the same color as our floor. Iam not sure yet. Oh well... I have time to decide :-) We set it up without a manual. Iam very proud of that :-)

We don´t have the dinner table and the chairs yet. I will order that just before my vacation in July so we are home to receive it. This years summer holiday will be on balconia. Meanwhile my balcony furniture will serve as our dinner-table. I saw it a month ago at Strauss for 59,90 € and I wanted it! I had to wait and hope it would be around once I have the place and indeed IT WAS! It was a pain to carry home, but it is so pretty it was worth it. I can´t wait to have breakfasts on the balcony on warm weekends!
My bed, my bureau and the fake sheep fur are from IKEA, so yes, you can buy cute retro-ish things on a budget.. Our bed is so HUGE! We had to unpack it to fit it into my workmates car and I got a little panic attack "This is too big!!! This is WAY too big!!!!!" I kept saying and we set it up and John said "Damn is that big! So so big!!!!!". But now we got used of the sight and as long and my vanity table and my chippendale bureau fit into the sleeping room we will be fine :-)

By the way: I checked and all my make up fits into the chippendale, which I dubbed Chippie. Even my oscene amount of fake lashes!!!! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!

Be patient, as I won´t have internet starting from next Saturday to the 8th of July and I will just be able to write stuff occassionally on twitter and Facebook over my internet phone, but there will be new posts when we are back and set ourselves up, including photos of how it looks once we moved in!!!

Today we also put out our old trashy furniture. No worries, not old in sese of Antique. Just old in sense of "I needed something for my first apartment on a limited budget and this is what I got". And Saturday we are finally MOVING IN!!!

I found a kommode for my lingerie at IKEA for 39 Euro!!! It is actually prettier in person. I consider getting a second one if it turns out I have some more space, but tomorrow we´ll set up what we have: The bed, the kommode, Johns desk. We GOT THE KEYS TODAY!!! I put up my beautifull killhouettes bathroom sign in order to make this place mine.Maybe I take some photos tomorrow while we set it up!

a new addition to my future apartment.... A chippendale - it suits because just like me it´s the non-stripping kind *wordplay alert* ;-) searching ebay I found this beauty for whopping 59 €. Too great a catch to pass it up. Even shipping it is still only 70 €.... In it´s future it will hold my make up and replace the ugly plastic container that did this job before. My hair acessoires will be stored in the wooden boxes I bought yesterday and I could put my etagere with my jewelry on it, too!

Hello everyone,

today me and John went for a walk and as we passed by "Beilstein & Inbar" which is a store/cafe selling French goodies we stopped by there and got us some dinner... I soon realised their wrapping resembles my bed sheets.... Sadly our dinner realised this, too and tried to hide there. Almost sucessfull!

The dinnerosaurus is hiding in it´s natural environment. It is hard to be detected. Only very experienced hunters can track it down and catch it!
Here you can see the dinnerosaurus hunted, skinned and ready to eat! You see a mousse au chocolart with vanilla cream core, 2 Roast beef Paninis, 1 Salami panini and a olive baguette with tuna, dried tomatoes and even more olives. Yummy!!!
Choclateeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! Sadly we won´t be nearby this place once we moved, but we will do our best to find something similar in Neuss.... We couldn´t afford as expensive a treat all the time anyway!

This Tuesday I will get my keys to the new place and me and a workmate will go to IKEA to get my new bed straight afterwards! YAY!!!

Hello everyone!

the past days were tough! yes, there was whit Monday so I had a day off, but yesterday and the day before I had to stay at work for 10 hours plus went to an short notice filming for the Dsigns store in my neighborhood (technically I ran home, because off course my train was late, smashed some make up in my face and tried to get some curl into my hair and ran off again. :-D) It was fun and we got it done quickly. I think we needed about 30 - 45 minutes to do my scene in it and it will be shown in a fashion show in Hamburg in July. I definately will get a hold of that video and share it on youtube <3

Anyway, today I had the first day getting home at my usual time and got to go to the Hairstyling salon André Cut Corner to pick up my copy of "Rock ´n` Hair"! Yay!!! It is very beautifully done and I heard it was already a big hit on Walldorf and the Petit Four Burlesque Show in Neuss. Next stop for the Rock ´n` Hair Team will be Custom Culture in Bottrop this weekend. If you can´t make it there you can still buy it on www.rocknhair.de It does not only feature 50s styles, but also 40s and 60s. Dont let the title fool you ;-)

Hello everyone,

the date is set! n the 2nd of July Iam going to move into my new apartment. Ok, our new apartment, but I took over choosing the furnitures for the living room and the sleeping room.

Today I was looking through magazines and books figuring out which colour ways will work for my living room... The walls are orange, and as this is a dominating colour Iam naturally worried whether the furnitures I choose for it will match it or whether it will look a huge mess. I made photos from the articles and photos for reference and I figured I might as well share them :-)

Iam lusting for those repros of cocktail-chairs for my living room. It will be mostly Tiki-inspired and Iam on the hunt for a nice kidney-table. too. We will have a red chaiselounge that we get for free as a sofa and I hope to snatch up those chairs - and hope badly they go with the chaiselonge and the orange walls!

In our living room there will be our dinning corner as well. This is what Iam eyeing on ebay. Do you think those will go with the cocktailchairs, the chaiselounge and the walls? It will become colourfull for sure...

Sleepingroom:

Here I plan for a 50s meet baroque boudoir theme. The walls are turqois and as John can´t be bothered will wallpaper and I actually like the colour I have an idea how to get the baroque theme in... but more about this later....

I dream about this IKEA bed:

And while this IKEA wardrobe is not particulary retro I just NEED a lot of space for my clothes! And the white should go nicely and neutral with the overall look.

On the bright side here´s something I had for years already.... My beloved vanity table from the 50s! And my kidney formed mirror

Retroish bed, modern wardrobe, 50s vanity table... Where does the baroque element come into play? I have no idea where I found the picture (comment if you know so I can give credit) but I plan something like this - however I will put baroque wallpaper into the frames. I already found 3 gold frames on a fleamarket and I´m positive I will find more!

It is still loooooong to go, but I wish I could just go ahead and buy everything I want already!!!! I´m in nesting mode!

today started shitty because the fleamarket I originally planned to go to was cancelled. As I was halfway to Neuss anyway I decided to go to Gare du Neuss Fleamarket instead. I bought a golden frame. As my non FB friends don´t know: I intend to move from my tiny 30 squaremeter apartment to incredible 75 squaremeters, so Iam on the hunt for new vintage stuff to fill it with...
Yay I go to Gare du Neuss!
After the fleamarket I went to Hannis 60er Jahre Cafe and had toast with egg, a philadelphia cake and a vanilla milkshake.
The cafe is indeed lovely with a 50s/60s interieur. If I´d open a cafe it would look just like it! As I plan to move to Neuss this would be pretty much neighborhood. I will have breakfast there quiet often than!

Book Review: "Retro Makeup - Techniques for Applying the Vintage Look"

A while ago I posted about Lauren Rennells new book "Retro Makeup - Techniques for Applying the Vintage Look". Most of you already know her as the author of "Vintage Hairstyling", my personal bible for Vintage hair :-)

I saw it and thought I better get it, based on the damn good impressions I have from Vintage Hairstyling Edition 1 + 2 (and before you ask: YES, it is important to have both editions bec

ause there are different stylings in it!)

So how do I find it? Is it worth buying and what do you actually get?

This book covers a lot of make up history. It introduced various make up brushes that you can use to reproduce or re-interprete the styles of the book. This is very very good for make up novices! The book covers the history of our most beloved cosmetic articles such as lipstick, blush, eye liner, mascara etc. While those contained no news for me it was still interesting to read and also included some nice novelty facts.

Every decade introduced features 3 different looks and how to reproduce them. None of it seems particulary tricky. Apart from the 60s eye liner styles they seem almost too easy to me, but than again I have been doing my own hair and make up for shootings for 7 years. It is very nice for reference though.

Things I felt were missing: I felt that something on how to emphasize your individual face form using blush or/and highlighter was missing. There is a short part on it, but that is not really much. I would have loved to have more stuff such as articles from old magazines or/and beauty books in it. I have some where they display makeup morning routines in detail and I LOVE that. In the book is one written description from the 50s. Besides that I have nothing to complain. ;-)

I really enjoyed: The beautifull photos, the breakdown on brushes, the part on what ladies had on their vanities, the "novelty" trivias in it.

Is it worth buying? Do you have the two Kevyn Aucoin books on Make up and Mike Browns books "The 1940s Look" and "The 1950s Look"? If so you don´t necessarily need this book.

However it is nice to have. The make ups are easy to reproduce. The advice is helpfull and if you have not that much knowledge about era-specific looks it is wellworth the money! I say: BUY!

a month ago I decided to go the Douglas store in the mall around the corner because I had a gift voucher and wanted to spend it. I must have looked like a million bucks that time, because usually sales ladies sneak around me as if I was just about to pop some products into my hand bag and run off - however this time one of them actually tried to give me advice. It was another extreme though because she just wouldn´t leave me alone for anything :-D

Oh well, I bought this little product in the end and so I

write something about it.

I have a mixed skin and in a constant fight against my T-Zone. I usually use a lot of Vichy products and Alverde to get in control, but Iam allways tempted to check on something new. The idea of this product is that you can use that cream just as a cleanser with a slight peeling effect OR as a mask. Both works very good. I clean my face with it every two days or so and it looks fantastic. I didn´t even get pimples during my critical days. It smells a bit peppermint-y and is also cool to the skin when used as a mask. Actually I like it enough to risk another visit to Douglas and sales ladies either sneaking or extreme advising :-D

Something else that I got me was Girligo, but Iam not that fond of it. I mean it is good when I´m lazy because it is a bodylotion that you just spray on, but it is by no means as good as the various bodybutters I use (I love the ones from Bodyshop and Alverde) plus it does not smell "candyesque" enough for me. When I use a shower gel or a bodylotion it HAS to smell like candy.

Hello everyone,

yesterday way definately NOT my day. Most of the week fought with a bad cold and I thought me and my friend Wick Day Med had it under controll (not to mention the obscure lebanese medication a work mate gifted me a while ago), however hell broke loose. On my way to this weekends shooting it seemed like everyone decided to take a train. No seats. So I had to stand all the way. Under normal circumstances it wouldn´t have been a problem. However in my conditions it had bad effects.

We made it through almost the whole shooting, but when we got to do the last set I collapsed. I had already done the make up and hair for this set, but I was shaking and weak so we couldn´t do that last set and I had to go straight home. Such a shame!!!! :-(

At least we got to do 5 of the photosets planned! Yay! Than on my way home the handle of my suitcase broke so I couldn´t pull it all properly anymore. And on top of that I got my lunch all over my coat and the suitcase. However I just got a photo from the shooting and it was worth the horror :-)

Trivia: Once in a few years I actually play mini golf. However I suck at it so I loose interest half way through the game when it is super obvious that nothing can happen that can prevent me from losing :-D

a new episode of "TsbtIwtbtmtagtb" today in Focus www.buy-unlike.com that got a delivery of prrrrrrretty new things!!!

The Evelyn dress (comes with a matching bolero, too) would be just perfect to go with my red hair and my weird eyes that seem unable to decide about their colour. It would show up my best efforts for sure, if you know what I mean. Thank god it is not available in my size for now, because chances are that I would totally bancrupt myself with it :-)

Taking a walk on the wild side is not an option, but a must in this pretty and sexy little Vamp zebra number. I can totally see myself wearing this in summer time! I´d go to the Tiki-Inn Cafe right around my corner just to bewilder the visitors that don´t sport a retro style ;-)

The Erin dress is something I love in every colour, but red is one of the colours that suit me best, so if I would have to decide among them all this would probably be my choice...

At work I often get comments that I look like I just stepped out of "Mad Men", so the Joanie dress in rust would definately find it´s way into my working wardrobe. Sexy, curve hugging, but work approciate!

Talking about work approciate... This playsuit wouldn´t be, but I would like to have it anyway :-D

At the moment I actually wait for two photos that I made in buy-unlike.com dresses. It is allways the things you are most exited about that take the most time to arrive!!!!! Watch this space!

I would love to live in Stockholm some day, I think they have the most adorable accent when they speak, fantastic food and even having two Swedish exes didn´t kill my passion for this beautifull country and their wonderfull people (or was it the other turn around?)! Oh Morticia corset! I love you in any variation there can be. Your nipped in waist would look so, so, SO fantastic on me. Someday I will own you. Yes I swear. If I happen to become rich and famous I will even take one of each. You´d be so pretty as outerwear or under any dress with a defined waist. We´d wiggle down the street together and everyone would know: We are destined to be together!

French Knickers and strapless Glamour Bra. French Knickers who wouldn´t want to lounge around in those? Quiet realistic in my eyes, however the strapless Glamour Bra is a rather cruel temptress to me as it just won´t be made in my size. No 36E or 38D! I will weep my lonely tears and hope it will change some day.

Glamour Corselette Panty. I already love the original Pull on Glamour Corselette, so naturally it´s little sister is attracting me as well. If you´d ask me to decide I wouldn´t know what to do! (Probably the Pull on Corselette first, later the Panty version! After all the pull on was there first;-)

On the Road: Glammed up to go to "Petit Four Burlesque Show" in Cologne

Some asked me what I ended up putting on for going out Saturday... I decided for a What Katie did Corset that I bought loooooong ago. A lace blouse and a skirt by Bettie Page Clothing. And yes. That is a head decoration of Errol Flynn beeing Robin Hood hanging on my wall (and I´m aware my wall needs to be repainted). We were in a hurry, so we just made 5 photos and this was the most flattering one :-D

A little bit of spring....

Dear all,

I´m having 4 days off. Yay!!! Yesterday I went and shot for the project http://www.360-pinup.de/ - I will let you know when something is up. And today I have a day of complete freedom without any plans. Oh well, not really. I wanna go and stop by my fave Second Hand Shop in Düsseldorf "Le Freak and chic". As I still have some time I made a little spring inspired make up with some new things that I got to test them...

Nails: P2 last forever nail polish in "Open your heart". I´ve had it on since Thursday without an coat of clear polish and it lasts and lasts.

Things I used:

Make up: L´Oreal Studio Secrets high definition smoothing foundation in Gold Porcelain (I have yet to find a cheaper foundation that matches my skin tone so well)

Powder: Something from Yves Rocher mixed by Baby Powder to make it Pale enough for me

Blush: Alverde Puder Rouge "Flamingo" (very nice and more subtle than the name and the colour suggest, however good enough to make me look fresh and healthy)

Eyes:

Base: P2 Eye Souffle "Dreamy Cream" (it is discontinued, but you can still grab it for a bargai. It is water proof and I love using it as a shimmery base)

Eye Shadow: Nyx Palette - The Runway Collection "Romance",

Eyeliner (light blue): Alverde Liljana, Eyeliner (black): Essence, so worn out that I can´t read the name anymore.

Mascara: P2 Big Drama (makes nice lashes, but I wouldn´t say it has more of an false eye lash effect than others. Like the brush.)

Lips: P2 pure color "Walk of Fame" (way pinker in person!)
