MUA Ever After and Smokin Palette in Action

Hello everyone,

my Palette swatch blog Posts about the Ever After Matte Palette and Smokin Palette are continously the most red ones, so I figured as there is so much interest I do a blog Post with two different Looks I did with them.

Surprisingly Ever After turned out to be my favourite Palette despite me never having been a fan of Matte eye shadows. That´s a big compliment for the Palette. I use it for an every day subtle look, sometimes in a more subtle Version such as in the Pictures shown, some times using the darker shades to give it more depth. I went for a "barely there" natural look for the first Pictures. I took both Pictures with and without Flash to Show the effect :-) Top Row is without Flash, Bottom Row with.

In case you are not familiar with "Boardwalk Empire". This is
Gillian. She is sick, twisted, evil and... has beautifull hair :-D
With the Smokin Palette I had another Styling idea in mind. I wanted to do something 1920s flapper style. Now waves are not my strenght, but I finally found a way now to achieve them.... i wrapped my hair around a straightening iron. And achieved.... A pretty Gillian Darmoody from Boardwalk Empire Hairstyle! (which I didn´t notice until I actually looked at the photos I had taken the photos :-D)Sure it Needs more perfection, but as it was only a first try i am confident now.

And for the Bonus I took one photo with my Vintage half moon manicure. Featuring my new MUA nailpolish in "Plum Noir".

So... The Ever After Matte Palette will probably remain my best pal for everyday while Smokin will get to shine when i try to make a Statement. Iam very happy with both my purchases :-)

Soap and Glory Review

Hello everyone,

This week I bought some more Soap and Glory stuff. Usually I rarely buy it as it is sort of expensive here in Germany (like 15 € for Rich and Foamous), but they had a sale on face products this week. AND a few weeks ago I had a Douglas voucher so I treated myself with something else. And there is some stuff I had before... so I figured it is time for a Little Soap and Glory post ;-)

Soap & glory has great Quality products and the packaging is all pink and girlie, often featuring Little pin up Girls onn those.. Seriously: How could I possibly resist? But let´s tell more about the products itself.

"At last - a simple solution for large pores and clogging. Just Scrub Your Nose In Itâ„¢ with this amazing face scrub. Our fruit-acid formula leaves skin looking bright and Radiant."

My declared favourite product is "Scrub your nose in it" which you can use both as a mask and a Peeling. It has a  minty fragrance and feels fresh on the Skin. I don´t use it all the time. I have combination Skin that is often "getting used" to a product to an extend that a product that used to work before stops working so I have to Switch to something else for a while (that´s really annoying. So I have several go-to products that I use for about a month and than Need to go to another one. But as I know this it´s no big deal anymore). In short: It is one of the products I regulary return to ;-) It was a re-purchase cause Douglas put it in their sale.

"Our special clogged T-zone formula Includes peach extract (with skin smoothing fruit acids), quillaja bark (a gentle natural ‘soap’), jojoba oil (an emollient skin softener), Detoxyboost™ technology (to help purify and deep clean) and Poreshrink R2™ (for a clearer, fresher, brighter complexion). In our opinion it’s the best cleansing milk on the market! "

Peaches and Clean is not available in Germany. I bought it from the UK via ebay. Surprisingly you can get Soap and Glory for half the Price via ebay, but often the shipping costs turn out so high that it Ends up beeing only 2 or 3 € less if you get it from there. So in the Long run it´s not worth the weeks of waiting :-( However I was curious to try this one as I read about it so I bought it, had it shipped to me and Boy, do I love it. It smells delicious like peaches (the Name gives it away, huh?;-) and has a lovely creamy texture (well, that was hard to figure out as well, right?) It is a great cleanser for the Skin, but not as thorough as Bloggers Claim it to be (or my make up is just too water-proof for it). Usually I first use my Sebamed Foam to clean my face and if there are any remains I use Peaches and Clean to get rid of it, I really like the pump dispenser, too!

"A high-tech, gentle non-drying foaming facial wash, formulated with complexion-friendly, easy-
rinse surfactants and special SUPERFRUITâ„¢ PLUM skin brightening complex. "

Face Soap and Clarity is a completely new product to me. It was in the Douglas sale for roughly 5€ so I thought I try it. I only used it two days for now, but like the soft Feeling it gives my Skin. This could be the beginning of a wonderfull friendship.

"Scented with a tempting blend of bergamot, peach, strawberry, jasmine, mandarin and musk. Sensible men have been driven to dizziness by this moisturising scented mist. "

Girligo is a really nice spray on moisturizer if you are on the run. If I am in a hurry I just spray it on before I have to run to make sure my legs are moisturized and smooth :-) I have been using the same bottle forever so it is a looooong Lasting product ;-)

"Almond and honey milks, oat extract, and our soft and frothy MoistureBoost system leave skin clean, supple and irresistibly scented. The next best thing to waking up to the smell of fresh baking is taking a shower with RICH & FOAMOUS Body Wash. Super creamy, ultra sudsy, conditioning on dry skin, it's everything you ever wanted in a wash. "

Rich and Foamous is another new product I purchased. Oh god, it smells so delicious. I only wish the fragrance would be more Long Lasting! Now I could buy the Smoothie Star Body Lotion which has the matching fragrance, but it costs 17 € in Germany... I just can´t justify paying this for a Body Lotion! Maybe I´ll put it on my wishlist for Johns and my anniversary or Xmas.

The 1960s Face

Hi everyone,

in the past weeks I went and showed a 1940s look and a 1950s look and this week we finally reached the 1960s. I hope you enjoyed the Little series. I think about doing some more Looks, but considering I have a bad cold I do not know when I will find time to take new photos. But if you have a request you can post it in the comments and I´ll see what I can do.

In this decade the Attention went away from the lips with nude and glossy Colors and went straight to the eyes with Vibrant Colors, Eyeliner and faux lashes. I don´t use faux lashes in this look but basically everything else ;-)

So..... primer, foundation, concealer, cream blush, powder. You know, the usual she-bang. I put the turqouise shade all over my eye, sparing the tearduct area. In the tearduct area I put the golden Color and also spread it all over the eye a bit. I added the Eyeliner and a heavy layer of Mascara to my upper AND lower lashes (I didn´t do much with my lower lashes in the former Looks). I added the lip boom lipstick AND the gloss and ta-da.... done. A more neutral eyed Version of the 60s look is my usual work look because it is so quick and easy :-)

Products used for this look:
Face: Catrice Prime and Fine Base, Matte perfect Foundation, Hide and Conceal Concealer, Matte Perfect Powder, Cream Blush in "Dolly".

Eyes: Eyes Primer, Dusk til Dawn Palette (golden Color and turqouise Color), Eyeliner in shade 5, Catrice precision eye pencil "Blackstreet Boy", Essence I love extreme Mascara, P2 Eyebrow Express "Stylish Blonde", Intense Color Eyeliner "rich Brown", Essence Guerilla Gardening eyebrow Mascara "my Piece of land",

Lips: Lip Boom in "OMG".

P.s: If you are tempted to try some MUA stuff (I am not beeing paid by them to write this or to post something. I just love their stuff and as it is so cheap to buy I Chose to buy MUA over something that costs way more) they have a Special offer where you only pay 1 British Pound per shipping if you spend 15 British Pound going on until tomorrow morning. So it would be a good Chance to get a Thing or two. I just bought their new blushers and they look amazing. I wait for another delivery of their old blushers that I did in May so I can do a huge blusher swatchfest. :-)

The 1950s Face

Hello everyone,

last week we time travelled to the 1940s, now we are doing a jump Forward and go to the 1950s. The 50s were a lot about Pastell Colors. Eye-Shadow, lipstick, Dresses. Foundation was more common than in the 40s and the Eyeliner made it´s big and sophisticated entry. Eyebrows were more defined, even exagerated with high arches (which I can´t do as mine are rather straight;-). I used a pink eyeshadow on most of my lid and a salmon-ish one in the crease. I used a pinkish blusher and a pink lip-cream with a blue-ish undertone.

Products I used (mostly MUA unless stating otherwise):

Face: Catrice Prime and Fine, Matte Perfect Foundation, Hide and Conceal, Cover and Conceal, Matte Perfect powder, Essence Cherry Blossom Girl Blush.

Eyes: Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil "Milk", Pretty Pastels Palette, Eyeliner Shade 1, Essence I love extreme Mascara, P2 Eyebrow Express Stylish Blond", Extreme Color Eyeliner "rich Brown", Essence Guerilla gardening eyebrow Mascara "my Piece of land"

Lips: Essence Guerilla Gardening lip cream "Mission flower"

The 1940s Face

Hi everyone,
last week I was asking on FB whether anyone would be interested if I do a Little blog series on period make up and what I use to achieve the look. And as there were a few that liked the idea.... Here we go ;-)

I am doing a more "Photo Make up" Approach of the 1940s face because the "Girl next door" make up look for day time was rather simple: A simple face cream, powder, blush, Mascara and red lipstick or lip Pomade to go with it.

When taking photographs or when filming make up artists were adding foundation, eyeshadow and contouring to give more deepths to the faces and to work out the Features.

So basically I did the foundation, concealer, powder and added some blusher to the apples of my cheek and the bronzer below my cheek bones. Light eyeshadow to the entire lid, than building up the crease with the darker shades and finally a very, very thin line of the black shade right at my lashes (eye liner didn´t get popular before the 50s really). Eyebrows in the 1940s were groomed, but rather natural so I just filled it out with a light shade eyeshadow pencil and brused it with eyebrow Mascara. Matte lips were THE Thing in the 40s. For this look I mixed the Lip Booms and overdrew my upper lip a Little.

Color photos to better illustrate what exactly I did here...

Products used (mostly MUA, so I just add the brand if it´s something else, ok? :-)
Face:  Matte Perfect Foundation, Hide and Conceal, Cover and Conceal, Matte perfect Powder, Blusher Shade 3, Mosaic Bronzer "Natural Glow"

Eyes: Professional Eyes Primer, Undress me too Palette (colours used: Naked, fiery, Obsessed and Corrupt), Essence I love Volume Mascara (forgot to include it on the photo. Darn!), P2 Eyebrow Express "Stylish blond", Essence Guerilla Gardening eyebrow Mascara "my Piece of land"

Lips: Lip boom LMK and Bring it

My MUA Haul and Swatches!

Hello everyone,

Last week we celebrated Karneval at work. Everyone came dressed up and I showed up as Katy Perry. I only had to buy the wig and the shirt as I already owned the Petticoat and the little cake fascinator. The picture was taken by John at about 7 in the morning right before I left for work :-)

The very same day I received my MUA delivery! I took full advantage of the 50% off they had and got a lot of eye stuff and a little bit of nail polish and lip stuff to try. Let me tell you: Next time I gonna order some more lip stuff. As it was only 2 British Pound per Palette (after discount) I got every palette that matches my eyes :-) There are maybe 2 palettes that I do not own now and 1 that just came out (Undress me too - that is the name of the palette, not an order I am giving you at the moment;-) Here is what I got in total...
Row 1: Palettes: Glitter Ball, Glamour Days, Poptastic, Heaven and Earth, Glamour Days
Row 2: Extreme Metallics: ALL of them :-)
Row 3: U & I, I WANT YOU, I <3 amaretto="" bright="" coral="" crush="" div="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Row 4: Eyeliner Shade 1-6
Row 5: Lipstick Shade 7, Love Hearts Hot Lips Lip Balm, Shade 13

Time for Swatches!

Row 1 - The Palettes:
Glitterball Palette
Glamour Days Palette
Poptastic Palette
Heaven and Earth Palette

Glamour Nights Palette
Row 2 - Extreme Metallics Quads:
Glammed up
Smokin
Starstruck
Celebrity
Show Stopper
Row 3 - Nail Polish:
Here I need your patience because I can´t just go swatch them on my arm ;-) So this is why I only show you Amaretto Crush as of now. The colour is amazin. I just needed two layers to get his result, but the brush is too hard for my taste. It was not very easy to apply is easily because the bristles were so thick they were scratching off colour. Apart from this is was perfect. More photos of the other colors will follow.

I have a crush on "Amaretto Crush"
Row 4 - Eyeliners
Shade 1 - 6
Row 5 - Lip Products
Lipstick Shade 7, Shade 13 & Hot Lips
Everything applied without primers and stuff.

What do I think of it? Well, I love the Palettes (the matte colours could be stronger, but I am not a Matte person anyway, so I don´t cryabout it), I LOVE the Extreme Metallics even more because they are even more intense, the nail polish color is great but theire brushes could be improved (too hard and thick bristles so they scratch the first layer off a bit when you apply the second one), The eyeliners are mostly good (I often need two layers, but once it´s dry it stays and stays! No worries about touching your eyes by accident), the lip stuff is devine. I love the smell (somewhat cocoa/vanilla/cocnut-ty. Not very extreme, but subtle. I do not like the smell most lipsticks from other brands have which is why I just orderd those 3 products to try. I will order more MUA lip products now that I know they do´t have this lipstick smell that I can´t stand.)

Now I roll back to my sofa because the irony is... I took the week off and now I am sick. And now that I start to recover it is John who really got it hard. So I take care of his flu now and try hard to stay well.....
