When we arrived the ground was muddy, when we left it was hard as stone...

Hello everyone,

Wu and Sari are sitting on a tree... Making off shot
Yesterday I had my first shooting in 2013 and it was verrrrrry cold..... However despite -4°C we managed to do almost all the outfits I had brought along (We attempted the last outfit, but than it started to turn really windy and we had to call it a day. But 5 out of 6 outfits (including my coat. 4 out of 5 if we don´t include the coat) is pretty much amazing, also keep in mind I had to change clothes out there (at some point it just didn´t make sense to go back to the car for every change anymore...).

Anyway, it was a lot of fun and the photos I received already were  worth the effort :-)

Outcome of the tree seesion

The main idea was to contrast colorfull vintage clothing with the wintery landscape. And god knows I have a LOT of colorful vintage clothing. Actually I often dress extra colorful during winter because I need to push my mood a little. It was also a great chance to test the eyeliner stickers I got myself from China. They lasted ALL day until I pulled them off when I returned home. It will sure be an option for "bad eyeliner days" and shootings for me!

More to come.... Visit Wu´s Blog to read more about out shoot (in German) and there might be more to come.... ;-)

First outdoor photos 2012

Hello everyone,

this is not my first outdoor shooting (you will see photos of that later on -we shot at the harbor of Düsseldorf), but the first outdoor photos I can show you.

At first we shot at an abandoned butcher and later in a park in Aachen because it was a sunny day.

The hat in Pic 1 is by Frollein von Sofa and the flower in my hair on the second picture is actually a real one (in oposite to my hair which is my red clip in extensions. I need to cut my real hair again though because it is getting so long it won´t hold curls anymore. it´s about the same lenght of my extensions, minus the curls. blaaaaahhhh). We made pictures with orchids in my hair as well, but well.... I will post those later. Photos were taken by Abramis Photo

Happy Easter,
Sari

Man eater? No, Matroschkas!

Hello everyone,

when I was 17 someone looked at me and said "Ah, you´ll become a vamp and man eater!" This route was never something I considered (I turned out to be the opposite). But Matroschka eater? Well, that´s something else!

Bon Appetit!

Random things I bought for shootings....

Surprisingly cheap feather fans! We´ll see how the quality is once I get them. As long as they don´t fall apart during the shooting I will be happy. Plus there is a lovely pink petticoat I can match them with... still need matching heels and a fascinator and Iam ready to go!

What´s more to add than that LOVE them!
I actually plan to use that Ukulele in "real life", too. I want to learn how to play "Happy Birthday" based on the fact that I had  my birthday last week and that there are 16 other January babies were I work! I´m zero musical, but I heard it´s the easiest to learn instrument. We´ll see...
Corset Boulevard had a sale on ebay. Not comparable with a custom made corset, but hey, it´ll be nice for a shooting! I have the green version and I ordered a different blue one as well.
Extensions! If your hair colour is goddamnf*ckingred and you only find hair pieces as Karneval approaches go for it!!! I can extend my hair to almost Waist lenght now!

Only thing missing.... the photographer! All but my dirndl shooting got postphoned so far which is extremely boring and frustrating!

Herr Mann the puppy strikes again

Hello everyone,

yesterday I had a lovely evening at the Nomi Burlesque"London Import" Show. It is very unlikely for me and John to stay up long, but we stayed until after 2 in the morning and completely over slept the day. I have no idea how we shall fall asleep again in an hour to get up tomorrow morning...

Anyway I got a lovely new photo from my shooting with R. Scneider Digital pictureworld featuring my little puppy today...
I´m wearing a vintage suit that I got off ebay reeeeeally cheap two years ago or so! More pictures will follow soon!

I am about to plan more shootings, so if you´re interested in taking my picture - just let me know :-)

Things of beauty!

Hello everyone,

the new year started and I haven´t blogged for 10 days. Why? Sick and busy. It only took over two weeks to overcome the horrible cold I was having. And busy, busy work days in addition to that!

Well, but I won´t bore you with how busy and sick I was... I rather show you.... Some things of beauty!

I went to Stuttgart last weekend for a lovely Dirndl Shooting and I spent the night with the lovely and beautiful Ms. Lili Marleen! Technically we´ve known for 6 years or so - but only over the Internet. Considering how long we´re pin uping (and she: burlesque-ing) around we are Germanies Pin up Grandmas. It really was a great stay! And I hope to see her again soon!

Little me in big Stuttgart

Enjoying a huuuuuuuuge and yummy breakfast in the Grand Cafe Planie, a verrrrry beautiful place!!!!!

I attended my first fleamarket this year. I went over it once - found nothing. When I left I spotted this freaky green hat. I guessed it would be darn expensive, but asked for the price anyway. Only 10 €!!! Iam not sure it will actually suit me and I have nothing to go with it, but that was a bargain too good to resist!!! The sales lady said someone remarked to her he/she has seen Marlene Dietrich wearing a similar hat in a movie! If anyone knows the movie, please point me into the right direction! Would love to see.

You just spotted something yellow? Those are ear rings one of my fantastic work mates gave to me. Have I lately mentioned that I have the worlds greatest work mates in my day job?????

Minus having been sick a great start for the year!!! :-)

Playing with my hair.... 1 pin curl set - 4 looks

Hello everyone,

during fall break I managed to get my hair cut and last Saturday I started a new attempt to bleach a streak into my hair. It worked wayyyyyy better than last time! Today beeing a day off I got to play with it....

I used this basic pin curl pattern for every look: http://retromodelsari.blogspot.com/2011/07/tutorial-time-saving-and-curl_31.html

And here are the results...

No. 1: Front rolls with open hair in the back...

No. 2: This is not sooooo much different from look 1. In this version I curled the hair in the back a bit under and pinned them together

No.3: When Iam lazy I like to go with 60s look. Some teasing of the crown and Ian ready to go!

No.4: And often I´ll just make a 60s updo when the hair is loosing curl and I just wanna opt for something easy :-)

How do you like my streak?

Life and Times of Playboy Bunnies

Hello all,

as Mad Men won´t return before 2012 Iam searching for a substitute series to kill time. A few days ago new 60s series "The Playboy Club" started. I checked it out. Iam not sure it can grab me though. It is a tad too predictable and cliche for me, but the hair and the clothes are great.

I wonder how you can kill a mobster and your hair is a mess, than 5 minutes later it is perfect again, than you shower and ruin your whole setting and approximately an hour after you had the shower it is perfect again. Dear make up deartment... Make up your mind. Either it stays perfect all the time or it doesn´t!!! Boy did this BOTHER ME!!! (If you know how to manage to instant repair your retro hair I hope you let me know...) I think I will give it a few more episodes to make up my mind about it... Until than.... Eye-candy!

Guess who is the mobster turned lawyer that all Bunnies will swoon over?
Staff meeting at the Playboy Club
Aspires to become the first coloured centerfold
Blonde bunny looks a DAMN lot like January Jones in my oppinion!
Lovely underwear shot.
One more cause the lingerie is just so lovely!!!
I told you it´s eye candy :-)

"Style me Vintage Make up" Book Review

Hello everyone,

as I was unable to find a book review of "Style me Vintage Make-up - Easy step-by-step techniques for creating classic looks" I figured I take the chance, order it and write my own :-)

As you might remember the hair edition was just so-so for me cause I felt that a lot of it was pure guess work for the onetryingto achieve a styling. The make up book turned out way better in this regard!!! The only make up were I feel a bit left alone was the Clara Bow look because you never see the eyes shut so it is guess work. Everything else is very very well-explained this time!!!!

Here a few pictures of the book to give you an idea....

Pretty pictures and layout... I chose to try the Twiggy style (it is the one on the cover picture)... and make it Tiki. It was a verrrrrry good excuse to use my suer cute Sophisticated Lady bracelet with loooots of fruits... You can decorate Tiki Mugs with it, too. If you like it here´s the Sophisticated Lady Online Shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/SophisticatedFlowers :-D Considering this was the first time I tried to do this look it turned out ok! NExt time will be better. Sadly my eyes are so huge, you don´t see A LOT of the eye make up *lol*

P.s: Checked my statistics for today and they were very high for a day were I didn´t even post something until now..... Than I saw that most came from the same link. Thanks to Mistral for posting about me in the www.bym.de Forum AND writing nice things about me. It has not gone unnoticed and I apreciate it a lot :-)
