Soap and Glory Review

Hello everyone,

This week I bought some more Soap and Glory stuff. Usually I rarely buy it as it is sort of expensive here in Germany (like 15 € for Rich and Foamous), but they had a sale on face products this week. AND a few weeks ago I had a Douglas voucher so I treated myself with something else. And there is some stuff I had before... so I figured it is time for a Little Soap and Glory post ;-)

Soap & glory has great Quality products and the packaging is all pink and girlie, often featuring Little pin up Girls onn those.. Seriously: How could I possibly resist? But let´s tell more about the products itself.

"At last - a simple solution for large pores and clogging. Just Scrub Your Nose In Itâ„¢ with this amazing face scrub. Our fruit-acid formula leaves skin looking bright and Radiant."

My declared favourite product is "Scrub your nose in it" which you can use both as a mask and a Peeling. It has a  minty fragrance and feels fresh on the Skin. I don´t use it all the time. I have combination Skin that is often "getting used" to a product to an extend that a product that used to work before stops working so I have to Switch to something else for a while (that´s really annoying. So I have several go-to products that I use for about a month and than Need to go to another one. But as I know this it´s no big deal anymore). In short: It is one of the products I regulary return to ;-) It was a re-purchase cause Douglas put it in their sale.

"Our special clogged T-zone formula Includes peach extract (with skin smoothing fruit acids), quillaja bark (a gentle natural ‘soap’), jojoba oil (an emollient skin softener), Detoxyboost™ technology (to help purify and deep clean) and Poreshrink R2™ (for a clearer, fresher, brighter complexion). In our opinion it’s the best cleansing milk on the market! "

Peaches and Clean is not available in Germany. I bought it from the UK via ebay. Surprisingly you can get Soap and Glory for half the Price via ebay, but often the shipping costs turn out so high that it Ends up beeing only 2 or 3 € less if you get it from there. So in the Long run it´s not worth the weeks of waiting :-( However I was curious to try this one as I read about it so I bought it, had it shipped to me and Boy, do I love it. It smells delicious like peaches (the Name gives it away, huh?;-) and has a lovely creamy texture (well, that was hard to figure out as well, right?) It is a great cleanser for the Skin, but not as thorough as Bloggers Claim it to be (or my make up is just too water-proof for it). Usually I first use my Sebamed Foam to clean my face and if there are any remains I use Peaches and Clean to get rid of it, I really like the pump dispenser, too!

"A high-tech, gentle non-drying foaming facial wash, formulated with complexion-friendly, easy-
rinse surfactants and special SUPERFRUITâ„¢ PLUM skin brightening complex. "

Face Soap and Clarity is a completely new product to me. It was in the Douglas sale for roughly 5€ so I thought I try it. I only used it two days for now, but like the soft Feeling it gives my Skin. This could be the beginning of a wonderfull friendship.

"Scented with a tempting blend of bergamot, peach, strawberry, jasmine, mandarin and musk. Sensible men have been driven to dizziness by this moisturising scented mist. "

Girligo is a really nice spray on moisturizer if you are on the run. If I am in a hurry I just spray it on before I have to run to make sure my legs are moisturized and smooth :-) I have been using the same bottle forever so it is a looooong Lasting product ;-)

"Almond and honey milks, oat extract, and our soft and frothy MoistureBoost system leave skin clean, supple and irresistibly scented. The next best thing to waking up to the smell of fresh baking is taking a shower with RICH & FOAMOUS Body Wash. Super creamy, ultra sudsy, conditioning on dry skin, it's everything you ever wanted in a wash. "

Rich and Foamous is another new product I purchased. Oh god, it smells so delicious. I only wish the fragrance would be more Long Lasting! Now I could buy the Smoothie Star Body Lotion which has the matching fragrance, but it costs 17 € in Germany... I just can´t justify paying this for a Body Lotion! Maybe I´ll put it on my wishlist for Johns and my anniversary or Xmas.

SugarShape Bra Review

No matter how big or small you are: Buying bras is always a struggle. For one thing: Figuring your size out is a hassle. For the other: Even if you have a favourite brand and one of their bras suits you chances are that another design of theirs will differ in sizing and there you are! Leave alone the size differences between different brands. If you are on the larger scale of bra-size like me chances are that you buy bras online, too (as  most local stores just don´t stock your size).

So I was thrilled to get a Sugarshape set for testing. For one thing: Because I was eyeing their store anyway. For the other: Their sizing system is WAY easier so it´s almost impossible to go wrong.

In other stores you have to figure out which cup-size you are. That can be quit a challenge even IF you know your band-size (cause they often differ from company to company, too). And in most stores no one is going to help you with it. So… When you go and order from Sugarshape you need to do exactly two things to get a fool-proof fitting bra. You measure below your chest and you measure your chest at it´s widest point. That´s it. This is the information you use when you order because they don´t use the cup-size system at all.

My selection: The Leyla set
And now you wonder whether it fits? Seriously: Like a dream. The first thing I noticed was that the straps are wide. Which is a total plus in my book. Nothing worse than straps cutting in your shoulders. I put the bra on and it held them in a way that made me feel no weight at all. (And I have F-Cups. That´s some weight to carry around). Over the day I experienced no need to adjust it (Like something falling out when bending forward, walking, jumping). Everything stayed nice, supported and in place. I got a panty to go with it and it also fits very nicely, isn´t cutting in and is a nice and soft material.

Absolutely Thumbs up! I will definitely buy more of their bras and if only we had a proper summer I´d get a bikini, too!

My MUA Haul and Swatches!

Hello everyone,

Last week we celebrated Karneval at work. Everyone came dressed up and I showed up as Katy Perry. I only had to buy the wig and the shirt as I already owned the Petticoat and the little cake fascinator. The picture was taken by John at about 7 in the morning right before I left for work :-)

The very same day I received my MUA delivery! I took full advantage of the 50% off they had and got a lot of eye stuff and a little bit of nail polish and lip stuff to try. Let me tell you: Next time I gonna order some more lip stuff. As it was only 2 British Pound per Palette (after discount) I got every palette that matches my eyes :-) There are maybe 2 palettes that I do not own now and 1 that just came out (Undress me too - that is the name of the palette, not an order I am giving you at the moment;-) Here is what I got in total...
Row 1: Palettes: Glitter Ball, Glamour Days, Poptastic, Heaven and Earth, Glamour Days
Row 2: Extreme Metallics: ALL of them :-)
Row 3: U & I, I WANT YOU, I <3 amaretto="" bright="" coral="" crush="" div="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Row 4: Eyeliner Shade 1-6
Row 5: Lipstick Shade 7, Love Hearts Hot Lips Lip Balm, Shade 13

Time for Swatches!

Row 1 - The Palettes:
Glitterball Palette
Glamour Days Palette
Poptastic Palette
Heaven and Earth Palette

Glamour Nights Palette
Row 2 - Extreme Metallics Quads:
Glammed up
Smokin
Starstruck
Celebrity
Show Stopper
Row 3 - Nail Polish:
Here I need your patience because I can´t just go swatch them on my arm ;-) So this is why I only show you Amaretto Crush as of now. The colour is amazin. I just needed two layers to get his result, but the brush is too hard for my taste. It was not very easy to apply is easily because the bristles were so thick they were scratching off colour. Apart from this is was perfect. More photos of the other colors will follow.

I have a crush on "Amaretto Crush"
Row 4 - Eyeliners
Shade 1 - 6
Row 5 - Lip Products
Lipstick Shade 7, Shade 13 & Hot Lips
Everything applied without primers and stuff.

What do I think of it? Well, I love the Palettes (the matte colours could be stronger, but I am not a Matte person anyway, so I don´t cryabout it), I LOVE the Extreme Metallics even more because they are even more intense, the nail polish color is great but theire brushes could be improved (too hard and thick bristles so they scratch the first layer off a bit when you apply the second one), The eyeliners are mostly good (I often need two layers, but once it´s dry it stays and stays! No worries about touching your eyes by accident), the lip stuff is devine. I love the smell (somewhat cocoa/vanilla/cocnut-ty. Not very extreme, but subtle. I do not like the smell most lipsticks from other brands have which is why I just orderd those 3 products to try. I will order more MUA lip products now that I know they do´t have this lipstick smell that I can´t stand.)

Now I roll back to my sofa because the irony is... I took the week off and now I am sick. And now that I start to recover it is John who really got it hard. So I take care of his flu now and try hard to stay well.....

Fräuleinwunder Magazine #5 Herzblut issue

Hello everyone,

good things come for those who wait. And after a long wait a fantastic new issue of Fräuleinwunder Magazine was released. Yay!

Famous for beeing a retro magazine especially made for GIRLS by Girls it is once again a more than interesting read featuring (among others) a diy instruction for a cute apron, a cup cake recepy, beautifull art work, fashion & lingerie, interesting articles, book tips and more.

I consider to actually diy
the apron during summer.
We all need a smile to be put on our faces as the summer is beeing so shitty. This issue made with Herzblut, a lot of love and a high aeshetic decidedly will do the job :-) (And I am not saying this because there is another "Rock n Hair" Review in it or because I wrote an article for them a few issues ago. It is really a fantastic magazine and I find it special because most "scene" magazines have a decidedly too masculine touch to them which is why I do not buy them. So if you too are a women that loves all the things retro and vintage but is beeing bored by having too many men only topics in the retro related magazines you really should give them a try!)
beautiful Burlesque
 inspired art is allways
a plus with me.
hurray, another Rock n
Hair Review and a lot of
other interesting books, too!

Artdeco Dita von Teese Classics Review

Hello everyone,

(just) in case and still space for more...
off the case
last weekend I went to the city to buy new panties. Originally. I got home with (indeed) new panties, a new dress and several pieces of the Artdeco Dita von Teese limited edition. I just figured I go to Douglas and see whether they have it. Beeing there I fell in love with the make up case and badly needed things to fill it with. So I bought some eyeshadow (not of the Dita von Teese collection though because those were eye shadows I have from other brands) but some from the regular Artdeco range, one of the Dita blushes and the eye liner (come on, Dita is the queen of eye liner. ;-)
full make up

my hair-do looks more
interesting on top
eye shadow and blush close up

The blush: a lovely peachy color (yay!). Nice for every day. Invisible for photos (nay!). Not a must buy, there are better ones.
The gel eyeliner: Outstanding! Easy to apply. A little goes a looong way! Absolutely yay! Not very gel-y - rather hard. Must buy!
The non-Dita eye shadow: absolutely yay! Great pigments, nicely blendable. Need more of them! Must buy.

And I won one of the Dita von Teese lip sticks! Once I get it I will post a review, too!

Testing new make up things: Essence, P2, Alverde & Catrice

Hello everyone,

I try to get back to normal, but off course that´s not so easy. I managed to do a little make up today with some new things that I did not use yet and here is a review. I even tried to smile for you once.

Catrice Prime anf Fine  Smoothing Refiner: Usually I use the Perfect Face make up base by P2 and I was allways pleased with it, but I figured it can´t hurt to try another one. I really LOVE the Catrice one and really feel it keeps up to it´s promise on the packing ("for invisible pores and lines"). Future will tell whether it can keep up with a work day. What I don´t like it that you have to stick your finger into the jar which is notvery hygenic. Apart from this it´s great!

P2 Cosmic Dream eye shadow "dreamy venus": No Iam not impressed. The highlighter is full of clunky glitter and the highlighter and medium colour are not very pigmented. The dark color is better, but this doesn´t help it. Sorry, thumbs down for this!!!

P2 Pure color lipstick "Walk of fame": I love the pure color lipsticks and this is no exception! I hope for many more to come. P2, please never stop this range!

Essence Liquid ink eyeliner: Love it! Great brush applicator, great color pay off and easy to put on. Will buy again. I did not really test the water proof aspect because even with non water proof ones I rarely have problems.

Alverde Modern Art Blush "New Red": Love it. Great for photoshootings. Very good pay off. I hope there will be more great blushes like this in their regular line!

Swatches Alverde Modern Art Limited Edition: Blush Shocking Pink, Blush New Red, Lipstick Trendy Coral.

Swatches & Review New P2 Eye Shadows & Nail polish

Hello everyone,

John went to the mall with me today to buy more X-Box Games. Meanwhile I stopped by the local DM and realized... They have the new P2 eye shadows and nailpolishes!!! I took along a few and here are some swatches!

P2 Brilliant Shine Eye Cream Cheeky Copper, P2 Brilliant Shine Eye Cream  Bombastic Blue, P2 Cosmic Dream Eye Shadow Dreamy Venus (picture below from left to right)

Brilliant Shine Eye Cream: Don´t let the name fool you. it is not that creamy at all (thank goodness! No smearing and getting to places it is not supposed to go.). It is very smudgeproof, intensive colors and water resistant. I already want MORE!

Cosmic Dream Eye Shadow: The colors are not as intense as the eye cream, but Iam confident in them. Will have to test them with an eyemake up. The colours are pretty, a glittery highlighter and a mauve and complimenting choclatish color. Can´t wait to play with it.

P2 Last Forever Nail Polish Secret Charm: Not too impressed. I needed to put maaaany layers on my nails to make it less stripe-y. Originally I considered it as nail-polish to use for shootings when Iam not doing something pin up-y because for pin up off course red polish is a must. With the 10.000.000 layers on it it looks far from natural though and I do not like this one.

Essence Legends of the sky Trend Edition review & I getto wear my new hat!

Hello everyone,

Essence released a new Limited edition that is supossed to emulate the style of the 40s. So I couldn´t resist taking a look, however only the palette appealed to me (A 40s inspired edition without 40s inspired packaging and NO red lipstick???? Come on!) Off course this was also a welcome occassion to put on my new hat...

That´s the promo for the trend editions. No cute retro packing, no red liptick, so I went for the palette...

I chose to use the khaki-greenish and the brown one for a 40s inspired make up... As you can see the colour is suitable for day wear but not necessarily for photoshootings because there is not that much pigmentation going on there and I hate my hair. (I curled the damn hair for over an hour and it didn´t turn out the way I wanted it. The darn curls fell out straight away :-( I must get myself a perm again!) The metal box, the palette comes in, is ideal for travelling, but does not look very retro. So I say - buy it for day-wear, but don´t expect to do much pin upping with it. It is not really a must-have for the retro gal! It´s ok, but advertising it as a 40s inspired edition is a fail in my oppinion. Don´t see anything SCREAMING 40s to me?!

Manhattan New York Royalz Limited Edition Swatches

Hello everyone,

is it obvious that Iam sick and have to stay in bed today? :-) Besides the new Alverde Eye Shadows I snapped the Professional Smokey Eyes Kit in Gorgeous Night Blue by Manhattan New York Royalz Limited Edition and swatched it. Still no Make up pics - those will follow in the coming days.

Kit...
With light (no base)
Mit Licht (ohne Base)

Without Light (no base)
Ohne Licht (keine Base)

The white one doesn´t thrill me, but maybe it will look more visible with an eye base, the other colours look fantastic. The matte turqouise really pops, the dark blue is a little greyish with a little shine and the grey... well, is a shiny grey :-) Can´t wait to try!
