Artdeco Dita von Teese Classics Review

Hello everyone,

(just) in case and still space for more...
off the case
last weekend I went to the city to buy new panties. Originally. I got home with (indeed) new panties, a new dress and several pieces of the Artdeco Dita von Teese limited edition. I just figured I go to Douglas and see whether they have it. Beeing there I fell in love with the make up case and badly needed things to fill it with. So I bought some eyeshadow (not of the Dita von Teese collection though because those were eye shadows I have from other brands) but some from the regular Artdeco range, one of the Dita blushes and the eye liner (come on, Dita is the queen of eye liner. ;-)
full make up

my hair-do looks more
interesting on top
eye shadow and blush close up

The blush: a lovely peachy color (yay!). Nice for every day. Invisible for photos (nay!). Not a must buy, there are better ones.
The gel eyeliner: Outstanding! Easy to apply. A little goes a looong way! Absolutely yay! Not very gel-y - rather hard. Must buy!
The non-Dita eye shadow: absolutely yay! Great pigments, nicely blendable. Need more of them! Must buy.

And I won one of the Dita von Teese lip sticks! Once I get it I will post a review, too!

No Virginia, I can´t tell you wether there is a pin up girl

Hi everyone,

once in a while I get mails from girls that ask me wether "they have what it takes to be a pin up girl". If you are a female beeing (or a transvetite that looks a damn lot like a woman) you have what you need. The way you look can change. Drastically. The way you think can change (and I hope it constantly does. That you form new ideas in your head constantly and learn new things all the time).

What do you say? Would the girl on the pics above make a good pinup girl? You will find out at the end of the text....

It is not all about the looks cause, as I said before, looks is something you can work on and improve. Nobody was born with a bullet bra on with perfectly coiffed curls and a big grin on the face. We all are the same more of less faulty material to start with. We just learn to conceal it better.

If you had bet with me wether the blonde lady at the left would turn into worlds most recognised pin up Dita von Teese, I couldn´t have told for sure as the blonde lady is cute, but it is hard to tell wether someone has all the additional skills needed plus, as it demonstrates, a different styling can make you look a totally different person.

Nobody but you can find out wether you have what it takes. Have your photos taken and see wether you enjoy it.

Than try to promote yourself the best possible way. Do you have the smarts and the social skills to do the right decisions at the right time? (Cause in order to be sucessfull you have to be smart and you have to have at least a basic knowledge of social skills). Can you go and shamelessly do self-promotion? (They cannot find you if they do not know you) And will you do this in an reasonable amount? (Too much can be quiet annoying, too little won´t get you anywhere either). Are you aware that beeing a pin up girl has an effect on your entire life? And that´s even the case if you just do it as a hobby as 99 % of us do. Can you transfer feelings in your photos? There is nothing worse than a blank stare cause this means that you don´t "communicate" with the viewer through a photo - which might be ok if you pose for a high fashion editorial, but will kill you as a pin up girl as that´s an etirely different thing.

So no Virginia, I cannot tell you wether there is a pin up girl hidden in you. Neither can your little friends. YOU are the only one that can tell ME.

And if you wonder who was the girl on the pictures above (the ones before Ditas before and after off course ;-)... It was me. About 6-7 years ago. Thinner, yes. Younger, yes. With decidedly less make up. And absolutely not retro-looking.

No!!!!! YES!!!!!!!! Nooooo!!!!! Shoes!!!!

Hi everyone,

I´m about to enter a major depression. As you probably remember I wrote about how much I like the Melissa/Vivienne Westwood shoe range. It´s horrible enough that I can´t afford those (I keep an eye on ebay, but did not find THE ultra bargain yet). Now there will be another bunch of pretty shoes that they release in winter - this time with Jean Paul Gaultier... And they promote it with a georgous making off video featuring Dita which, off course, makes me want them even more!

So beautifull. I think I´ll die. (I´m sure there will be tons of Melissa shoes in heaven?! And corsets, too)

Jet Lag

Hi everyone,

finally a sort of real entry from me ;-)

It was really really nice to "come home" to Sweden. Since I was a teenager I regulary went there - however interupted by a absence of 3 years or so after I broke up with the swedish boyfriend I had during that time (you don´t really want to run into the guy that dropped you like a hot potatoe and it really isn´t that easy to find a cheap place to stay all by yourself).

We went shoping a lot (both in the "town" and in the vintage stores that are mostly located in Södermalm), went to Skansen which is a georgous open air museum, took a tour around the castle and much more that you will see when the video-editing is done. So watch out in the coming weeks for my Pin up Travel Guide series. It´s not only nice if you actually plan to go to Sweden - maybe I can convince you that it is THE place to go and make you madly fall in love with Stockholm just like Iam (and than we start a vintage business over there together and live in Pipi Longstockings mansion or something like that;-)

However let me tell you a thing or so about the TV: It sucks when it is "Knight Rider Week". I never even watched a episode back in the 80s and I don´t care about new episodes either. VIP with Pamela Anderson is probably the most stupid series ever and I´m not surprised I never saw it before.
Also be carefull wether your animal docu really is one - or a hunting video. Why do I tell you that? It was a nice morning, me and John just had breakfast and while switching through the channels we found a docu which we supposed was about nordic animals. A cute little wild pig came off the forrest and ate some gras. While we were going "Awwwwwwww" cause it was such a cute little piggie suddenly we heard the BANG of a riffle, little piggie fell over and panically moved it´s legs in the air while dying. You should have seen our shocked faces!!! So: Make sure that the docu you watch for breakfast really is a docu on animals - not hunting. Otherwise you loose appetite quickly.

Another thing to be carefull about: The yummy cinemon-rolls that you can get with a coffee for 20 crown (a bit less than 2 Euros). They are evil. Cause you can´t stop eating. Every morning John got himself a coffee and I ate the kannelbullar as it is called there. So much about eating healthy ;-) But next week I´ll go back to my normal eating schemes again. It is good luck that I didn´t regognize how yummy the cakes named Cardemumm Dreams are until the last day ;-)

So: TV so-so, cakes and rolls yummy, weather ok in general, fun: enormous...

P.s.: Anyone else thinking it sucks that you basically hardly saw anything of Ditas performance at the ESC. I watched the whole darn thing just to see what she´d come up with!!! Stupid russian TV!

P.p.s: Someone of myspace commented on my trailer that this would have been the most pointless and worst video she saw in a long time. Why bother commenting when you hate something? After all does everything have to have a point? I don´t think so. After all I do all my videos for the fun of it and to entertain those that watch them,

The 50s market

The 50s market was cool and I saw a lot of well-kown faces as well as new ones. However it didn´t take long to seperate our pin up/photographer group as it was damn full!

I forgot my camera at home and exept a guy that photographed me with Arthur (you remember: He runs "Aristocutz" and is the only coiffeur whose scissor is allowed to touch my hair) and said it would be for a newspaper, but it never showed up, no other pictures of me where taken. However John says everyone adored my Trashy Diva dress in blue (or at least the amazing cleavage it makes ;-)  I really consider to get it in red as well as it is still up for sale...

I bought a new small lamp for my vanity, a bretzel-holder and a huuuuuge white and red feather fan. I´m still sad I didn´t get the 2nd one to match, but they were expensive and someone was quicker than me and bought it. The fan I HAVE is however beautifull and has marabou-feathers so soft and they swing so nice when you move it.

Today the hats arrived and they look even cuter in person. I hope to make photographs with me wearing them soon. :-)

I´m surprised about how many people read my blog and never reply ;-) No matter if I meet a photographer, or a model, or a journalist or whatever they know what I´m up to. And well, that´s the purpose of the blog after all! After all I don´t want to be a distant untouchable person rather your girl next door.

Here is a sneak peek on Ditas wonderbra collection. It looks fab and I love the idea of an over-wire bra. I have an over-wire swimsuit from the 50s and it has no neckholders. It never fell down or didn´t supports my boobies ever. However my problem with wonderbras: As a solid D-Cup I don´t really need one! Anyway here´s the full story: http://www.the-lingerie-post.com/2008/08/a-first-look-at-wonderbra-by-dita-von-teese/ and here: http://www.sexysciencebydita.com/

I´ve been rebuilding my website. Not everything works for now and the fancy flash is gone, but I hope you like it anyway... www.retro-model.de

My oh My

My friend Frankie Sin posted something on myspace (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=4586854) that we all should help and support all the other pin up girls and I couldn´t agree more. We are not many and the few of us existing should stick together like glue.

I mean it´s not in the nature of a pin up girl to be all catty and negative. We´re supposed to be sweethearts that both men and women find symphatic and cute. You can´t fake a personality.

There is no greater thing for me to help a girl find her way in pin up wonderland. I regulary get mails from girls that are searching for advice and I take pride in giving them hints on how to start of. when I started 4 years ago I had not many people to ask for advice especially in a pin up desert like Germany. So it made me really happy whenever someone replied my mails.

And believe it or not, even Dita von Teese sended me a short note when I wrote her a mail. That was my personal highlight! So if I can make someone happy with answering a mail I happily do that. And if someone need advice I´m the last one that won´t give it. Support our pin up community with supporting the "offspring of pin up" and treat the ladies on your level on experience, over it and below it with respect and friendship. I can say that I never got in a fight with another pin up girl. I´ve experienced other models bitching around, but the girls I´m fortunate enough to know and have met are absolutely sweet and humble. Absolutely babe-material!

Amen.

The bad news: I don´t think I ever saw a German online shop stocking this brand :-( If you know otherwise or are a kind person willing to do a purchase for me and send it to Germany notify me ;-)

I might go and model some cute stuff this week!!! I really look forward to it. Shooting no. 9 or 10 or even more with a lady that truely know what she does and what she wants.

Oh and I saw the cutest music video in a looong time yesterday...
