Lace! And the Napoleon Bonaparte Adventure!
Hi everyone,
usually I have my Making off videos finished before I even get the first picture from a photoshooting back..... But than it was unusual conditions...
Yesterday Hady called me because a model cancelled a shooting with her. It was supposed to be in a castle and so she looked for a substitute. I said "HELL YES" as we wanted to shoot anyway (however we planned a outdoor shooting and the weather gods were against us). So I spend to rest of yesterday trying a new make up (I immediately KNEW I needed something artificial and doll-like, eventhough Hady made no specific demands which look I should go for - she told me to surprise her), packing stuff and preparing for the shooting.
This morning I got up reaaaaaally early, put on the make up and off I drove to Cologne where Hady picked me up to drive to Schloss Auel. Iam a history nerd. I´m not kidding. As a child I wanted to grow up to dig for lost cities, bones and treasures. Well, nowadays I dig for vintage clothes and funny things. So off course I informed myself and found out that even Napoleon stayed at this castle once! And so we went to see his room (and shot in Napoleons bathtube.... We´ll see how those turn out). To our surprise the room and the bed were TINY. Like.... Half of my apartment. 15 squaremeters maybe? I laid down on his bed to see what it must feel like to be Napoleon and it seems his ghost liked it as it opened a wardrobe door all by itself when we shot in another room later.
Anyway.... Here are the first pics from this shooting :-)

I can´t decide wether I like the colour or the black and white version better?!

The beauty of imperfection
I have an almost fetishistic attachment to freckles. I love them. If you´d ask me wether I have a hunting scheme about men I have to reveal that I don´t care that much what colour your eyes are as long as they are friendly. Or wether you have a car as long we can go back and forth to the end of the world together. Or something as non-permanent as haircolour. No, it is freckles that will make me swoon. Now I don´t fall for everyone with freckles, but to me it´s an advantage.
I think it has to do with the perfection of imperfection. There may be flawlessly beautifull people in the world. The masses adore perfection up to an artificiall degree. However flawless beauty is often.... boring. The perfect teeth, the perfect face, the perfect body. They are just not REALLY remarkable or stand out. If I don´t know you any closer I will easily forget you, cause you don´t look INTERESTING. Nothing distinct. Nothing fun. Now freckles on snow white skin are cheeky. They interupt the perfectness.
Honestly: How many of you dare to approach someone that is absolutely perfect? I know I wouldn´t. But if you have freckles or your teeth are not entirely straight or your nose is a little too small or too big to be perfect I might dare saying "hi".
Off course someone has to offer more than just freckles or any other charming imperfection on the long run. He has to be fun to be around. I had freckled boyfriends before John. But they were not fun to be around. I couldn´t do silly stuff with them. We couldn´t "steal horses together" as we say in Germany (I´m not sure wether there actually is a English expression for that?). That John is a bit off-beat just like me in some ways and completely different in others is what made me interested in him in the first place.
Maybe it is even more important to me that you´re a fun person to be around than freckles!
P.s.: With tons of sun I once managed to breed me a total of 7 freckles under my eyes, however I gave up soon as I don´t really like to lay around in the sun all the time and get a greyish alien colour tan.

Harry Potter, Spies & Burda
Hi readers!
It´s Harry Potter release weekend and guess which idiot ordered it to have it sent to her workplace? Yes it´s me. But the deal is: I don´t work Saturdays!!! Even worse: I already readed what the end is supposed to be in a newspaper yesterday. It´s all over the place and you just can´t escape. I say "Thanks to the dude that lifted the biggest secret of Harry Potter!" I will hungryly read it though on Monday when I drive home from work. A former boss of mine borrowed me his daughters Harry Potter books some years ago and I grew to like them a lot! And now this *sigh*
Well, after this disappointment there are still some very cool things going on. I purchased a beauty book on ebay and found out unusual things about the writer. Olga Tschechowa was a German actress with russian roots and she was said to be Hitlers favourite actress.
While she seemed to be on good terms with him it she was actually a spy for the Sovjets trying to get information out of him. After the war she tried to start a own theater and since a own beauty salon. The theater wasn´t a hit, but the beauty salon worked fine enough to start a own line of beauty products and a handfull of beauty books. Sounds pretty much like a Hollywood spy-movie, huh?
Anyway I bought one of her beauty-books and I consider getting a biography of hers since she sounds very interesting. I might scan some things from the book and put it in my blog. I used to have a website with scans of how tos for hair, but I haven´t updated in years. This one however includes fashion, health and beauty advice and has 484 pages of it.

And than there is the fact that the latest edition of Burda is out now and has some cute vintage-inspired pieces in it as well as some nice capes. You can bet this one is bought!!! I really need some blouses.
Have a georgous weekend!
