Testing new make up things: Essence, P2, Alverde & Catrice

Hello everyone,

I try to get back to normal, but off course that´s not so easy. I managed to do a little make up today with some new things that I did not use yet and here is a review. I even tried to smile for you once.

Catrice Prime anf Fine  Smoothing Refiner: Usually I use the Perfect Face make up base by P2 and I was allways pleased with it, but I figured it can´t hurt to try another one. I really LOVE the Catrice one and really feel it keeps up to it´s promise on the packing ("for invisible pores and lines"). Future will tell whether it can keep up with a work day. What I don´t like it that you have to stick your finger into the jar which is notvery hygenic. Apart from this it´s great!

P2 Cosmic Dream eye shadow "dreamy venus": No Iam not impressed. The highlighter is full of clunky glitter and the highlighter and medium colour are not very pigmented. The dark color is better, but this doesn´t help it. Sorry, thumbs down for this!!!

P2 Pure color lipstick "Walk of fame": I love the pure color lipsticks and this is no exception! I hope for many more to come. P2, please never stop this range!

Essence Liquid ink eyeliner: Love it! Great brush applicator, great color pay off and easy to put on. Will buy again. I did not really test the water proof aspect because even with non water proof ones I rarely have problems.

Alverde Modern Art Blush "New Red": Love it. Great for photoshootings. Very good pay off. I hope there will be more great blushes like this in their regular line!

New Alverde Eyeshadow swatches

Hello everyone,

today we had Hansefest in Neuss so for a change the stores were open on a Sunday. And so was DM, I went in and found.... the new alverde products. (YAYAYAY). I´m too sick to do an make up with them, or let´s say I look horribly sick, so an actual make up will follow in the coming days...

Golden Turqouis Quattro, Magic Blue, Dark Aubergine
With light (no base used)
Mit Licht (ohne Base)

Without Light (still no base)
Ohne Licht (und immernoch ohne Base)

Looks pretty good! Aubergine is matte, Blue is a little shiny, though not as much as I thought it would be, light cream colour will be a good alrounder, turqouise has indeed a golden shimmer and will be great with 50s/60s inspired make up, brown is beautiful and bronze-y so good for every day and black is rather matte and will go well with the blue.

A little bit of spring....

Dear all,

I´m having 4 days off. Yay!!! Yesterday I went and shot for the project http://www.360-pinup.de/ - I will let you know when something is up. And today I have a day of complete freedom without any plans. Oh well, not really. I wanna go and stop by my fave Second Hand Shop in Düsseldorf "Le Freak and chic". As I still have some time I made a little spring inspired make up with some new things that I got to test them...

Nails: P2 last forever nail polish in "Open your heart". I´ve had it on since Thursday without an coat of clear polish and it lasts and lasts.

Things I used:
Make up: L´Oreal Studio Secrets high definition smoothing foundation in Gold Porcelain (I have yet to find a cheaper foundation that matches my skin tone so well)

Powder: Something from Yves Rocher mixed by Baby Powder to make it Pale enough for me

Blush: Alverde Puder Rouge "Flamingo" (very nice and more subtle than the name and the colour suggest, however good enough to make me look fresh and healthy)

Eyes:
Base: P2 Eye Souffle "Dreamy Cream" (it is discontinued, but you can still grab it for a bargai. It is water proof and I love using it as a shimmery base)
Eye Shadow: Nyx Palette - The Runway Collection "Romance",
Eyeliner (light blue): Alverde Liljana, Eyeliner (black): Essence, so worn out that I can´t read the name anymore.
Mascara: P2 Big Drama (makes nice lashes, but I wouldn´t say it has more of an false eye lash effect than others. Like the brush.)

Lips: P2 pure color "Walk of Fame" (way pinker in person!)

Alverde Glamour Deluxe - Review

Hello everyone,

I tested the Alverde "my perfect Day" Palette in Glamour Deluxe.

I used the eye-shadows, the blush and the lightest of the red glosses.
Overall I like it. I´m not impressed with the lip-brush - a thinner and more precise one would have helped. I didn´t bother with the sponge applicator for the eye shadow at all. The rest is really nice. I will sure take along the palette for many ocassions. The bow with the veil and the top with bows are things I bought at H&M yesterday. They have a lot of cute stuff at the moment.

New Alverde - review (it´s not merde!)

Hello everyone,

Alverde had new additions to their regular make up line and just released a new limited edition named "My perfect day". As a big fan of Alverde I couldn´t wait to get it into my hands... For now I tested:

Anti-Aging Puder Lidschatten Basis (regular line): I tested it with mixed results. With one eye shadow it worked, with another one it didn´t and went into the crease. It mattifies the eye area nicely, but I can´t tell how anti aging it it. I don´t have that manywrinkles on top of my eyes :-D It seems to work with the Shiny duo Eye Shadow and other Alverde Eye Shadows, but it didn´t with my Viva la Diva Eye Shadow.

Anti Aging Duo Highlighter (regular line): I love it. I use it on my eyes rather than all over my face eventhough I mixed the cream base with some cream blush and loved the result (it is not very visible in the photos though - which is good as I don´t go for a "greasy face" effect). It has a creamy base and a powder to go with it.I HATE the packaging for the powder though. It is too hard to open and you might get the powder part all over your clothes. No yay for that. I
hope they´ll work on that!

Shiny Duo-Lidschatten Black Diamond
(Alverde "my pefect day" Limited edition): It is a cream eyeshadow with some Eyeshadow powder combined. I put it in my eye-crease. The powder sets it nicely so it stays where it´s spposed to stay :-) Unfortunately: The same problem as the Duo Higlighter: The packaging for the powder sucks. I got a lot of it all over my dress :-(

Mineral Rouge in Cherry (regular line - not pictured on the Make up photos): A very high pigmented and really red blush! I love it. You have to be carefull though or you will look like a clown. Perfect for Photoshooting Make up!!!

I also got me the Glamour make up palette from the "My perfect day" Limited edition. I will test it on my blog soon...

I wear the gloss P2 Color Star Lip Cream in "Marlene Dietrich". I love the good coverage it gives, the color and off course... the name ;-)

The endless search or a perfect foundation

Hi everyone,

what I really hate about moste pale foundations is that they are designed for a skin with rosy undertones - something that my skin is totally lacking. If someone would ask me to describe my skin tone I´d say it´s an ghoulish olive. So, yes, many foundations make me look like Miss Piggy.
So I was standing there at the counter of L´Oreal Studio Secrets Professional starring at the high definition smoothing foundation and I checked the colours. To my absolute delight I found out that they do it all in two versions, a rosy and a golden one. So I took the colour gold porcelain along with me. I also looked at the fixing powder, but decided not to get it this time around. A good decision as later on I read in the internet that baby powder does the same job and has the same incredients, so I bought baby powder instead which is like 13 € cheaper and has waaaaayyy more content (it is hard to dose though, but I take the risk).

So how happy am I with the LÓreal Studio Secrets Foundation? Here´s my review: I tested it over the whole week and it looks really really good. The foundation has a brush attached to it, so you have to pump the foundation out and apply it to your face with the brush. I apply it in circular motions and really get into every corner with my face. Than I pad it with my fingers (just to make sure there are really no brush strokes visible on my face) and put the powder on it. I have a mixed skin and it stays on all day really. The coverage is ok. I need only a little bit of concealer with it, so that is fab. So I would really recommend it. Howver keep in mind that you will have to clean the brush once in a while!

Í´m having it on on this picture, acompanied by Penatens Baby Powder
Eyeshadow: Nyx Orange Pearl, Nyx Nude Pearl
Blush: Alverde Peach
Lipstick: P2 Via Montenapoleone
Nailpolish: P2 Flamboyant

Blog give away

Hi everyone!

As you know I mentioned a planned give away earlier in my blog for the time when I hit 100 suscribed readers. Waiting is boring, so let´s start it now - and maybe I find the 100 suscribers on the way ;-)

So I have been thinking and this is what I come up with. It is only a small give away, but nethertheless: It should be fun.
Included is:

2 Lovely baked Alverde Eye-shadows
1 MNY Hightlighter
1 P2 Lipstick (Oxford street - my recent fave!)
1 Viva la Diva Concealer pen (it totally rules and is only available in Sweden)
1 nice and Burlesque-y headpiece
1 signed edition of Jolie with my editorial in it (if I ever get hyper-famous it might be worth a fortune ;-)

How can you join the give away?

Step 1: Blog, twitter or facebook “I read the #pinupdiaries” plus a link to my blog.

Step 2: Than post in my comments that you have done so. If you do multiple posts (for example you have twitter and a blog), do separate comment-entries with a link to each.

After we hit 100 readers I post a deadline on how much longer you can join the give away (I think about 2 additional days after we hit that mark, so if you’re running late you can still join it – unless it takes 100 days to find the 100 readers, off course :-D) and than I’ll throw your names into my magic hat and announce a winner.

Beauty Bargains yay or nay?

Hi everyone,

there are 3 things I like a lot: Vintage clothes, pin ups and pretty make up. This is why I ask: Would you like to read about pretty make up bargains and stuff here more often?

I really love the German drugstore brand Alverde because a) it is natural cosmetic b) for an affordable price c) with great quality (I have some of their eye shadows, blushes, the camouflage powder, lipsticks, foundations and gel eyeliners) And so I love that they have a sale on some nice products right now.

Berry Baked Blush, Spice Baked Blush (I think those were 1,95 € each) and turqoise baked eye shadow for 1,75 €. Because it is a rainy day and Iam a bit bored I used it to make a photo on my actual eye In action: Nyx white pearl as highlighter, Alverde turqouise as main eyeshadow, Alverde Gel Eyeliner in black and the berry blush

Don´t worry folks, I have not forgotten about the shapewear post that I plan to make. I just need to wait for a weekend with good light conditions in my apartment and till Iam patient enough to set up the camera by myself (and believe me, it´s very unnerving till it is set to exactly the right height if you don´t have a body double that will stand there till you are done...
